those who used both TS55 and TS75 - dust extraction?

Hi,

For those who used both saws - would you say that with TS 55 less dust escapes the collector (due to less power) or it is about the same as with TS 75? Assuming that Festool CT 22 HEPA is used for both.  I know it is not the most important characteristics for the saw but nevertheless would appreciate to hear feedback. I was watching some youtube videos and it looks like TS55 is less dusty, just want to know if this is the case.

Thank you

Anatoliy

I have used both with the CT 22 vacuum and the dust collection appears to be about the same (that is, good).

Same here. I have a 55 and today made a bunch of cuts with the 75 and the dust collection seemed similarly excellent with both saws.

Thanks, folks, this is good to know. Cause I ordered TS 75 in case i will need extra power in the future sometime

I've used both in different materials and primarily with the 27 mm hose. I don't notice an appreciable difference if they are both used in the same material and under the same circumstances.

Where I think you might notice a difference is at the end (and to a lesser extent the beginning) of cuts. Both saw blades, at that point, are in "free air" and it's pretty difficult to contain what they are throwing off. Where I think you might notice a difference is in situations like the end of a cut that is deeper (because you can), you will notice that the bigger saw throws off a bit more stuff.

It still isn't a significant amount of sawdust considering what you just cut (and how incredibly smoothly).

I have a 75 but no 55. Another thing to consider is hose size. I usually use my Fein Turbo II with the TS75 just because it has a larger hose, that came with it. I haven't gotten around to buying a larger hose to replace the piece of insulting crap hose that comes with the CT22. The Fein hose never clogs, the junk skinny green Festool hose clogs almost every use. Beyond the rant, I have used both units side by side on 75 cuts. DC is much better with the Fein but I think that is just due to hose size. Other than the garbage hose, the CT22 is a great Vac and I would recommend it.

Hmmmm, never had a clog or problem with the 27mm hose.  I use it on everything except the kapex.

I noticed no real difference between the 36 and 27 with my 55.  Except the 36mm is annoying to use most times with the ts.

I have a D27 and two D36 hoses (only one is antistatic); I've had the D27 clog maybe a couple of times.  I believe it was with my HL850 planer.

I have a D27 to D36 adapter (Dave Ronyak's design) that I use with a D36 antistatic hose attached to my boom arm.  This has worked great with my OF1400, sanders, Trion jigsaw, and Domino.  With the sanders, I back off the suction to maybe 30-50% and get almost perfect dust collection; there's no way a D36 would improve dust collection.

The D27 has some nice advantages.  Besides the necessity of the D27's connector with sanders, the D27 is much more flexible than the D36, gets in the way less, and is lighter.  I see virtually no benefit of using the D36 for these tools.

Normally, I use the D36 with my HL850 planer, TS55, and Kapex.  The D36 is pretty much required for the HL850 and Kapex.  With the TS55, the D27 works fine, but using the D36 directly instead of inserting the adapter is just one less step.  It's just convenience, not better dust collection.  About the only place where the D36 might make a difference would be quickly ripping thick material (like 6/4) with the 12T blade.  Then you might see a difference.

Regards,

Dan.

I have the 75 and the CT22.  Have used both size hose and noticed little difference between the two.

Dust collection when cutting sheet goods and other lumber is generally very good.  Very narrow cuts (when fine trimming panels, doors, etc.), e.g. 1/16" or less, produce a lot of non-collected dust, in my experience.  It seems that narrow cuts spew more dust to the right of the blade and outside of the range of dust collection capture.  Less narrow and deeper cuts seem to capture more dust.  But that's only speculation on my part.

Just to make things clear, the hose itself has only clogged a couple times. The clog always occurs at the intact nozzle end. I think the issue is that the end is a soft rubber compound. It seems to want stuff to stick to it. Spraying the end with lube helps for a little while. The end of the Fein hose is a hard slick plastic, nothing sticks to it. To clean a jobsite, I don't even consider the CT a useful tool. I use it only for service work at this point and DC from cutting. Once I get a bigger hose maybe that will change. The Fein is the hardcore vac/hose that sucks up anything without problem. Does anyone know if/how the bigger hose fits into the hose garage? Dan?

Stuffed is the answer to wether the 36 fits in the garage.
I bought the installers cleaning kit with the 36mm hose.
That systainer is always on top of my CT and that is where I store the 36.  I keep the 27 in the garage. [big grin]
I now broom clean and then sweep up with my CT.

I am thinking about getting the power carpet head.
Anyone have one of these?

I have and use both saws with a CT22.  There is no difference between the saws in terms of dust collection.  I'm using the 27mm hose with both saws.
