So I will probably have a garage sell next month selling alot of things and tools I just don't use anymore and I might try to sell my router table also at the garage sell.  My question for those that have the VL (one attaches to the MFT/3.  Do you like it and do you wish you would of gone with the GE instead?  The reason I am looking at it is because right now I am at a space premium and the idea that it attaches to the MFT is a real selling point for myself and also using it as an exstension to the MFT is also a selling point.  So again those that bought the VL do you like it or are you kicking yourself in the butt for not going to stand alone system?

In my thinking, the MFT/3 + MFT/3-VL combo is best set up where you can move round the entire unit (ie; not against the wall ... that's how I have mine at the moment and it's a bit of a nuisance).

If you're going against a wall, get the GE and allow yourself the flexibility of moving the GE about - then you can always leverage the MFT/3 as an outfeed.

I'll keep my VL setup, but I will add a GE as well in the future.

I have a 3 car garage and use one bay 14 feet wide as a workshop.  I have the CMS VL .   I love it.

You can pull off the fence in about 30 sec. and lower your router bit and use it as an out-feed table for cutting with track saw.  You will want to be able to get to 3 sides of the table.  It would be nice to have the separate table yet together the router table is very stable. and the table is 30 inch wide so you have a decent size table to work with.  Adding the VL to the MFT table gives you a very stable table, more stable than you would get with  the stand alone CMS

I have a hobby shop and will hardly if ever transport from my garage so this works very nice for me.  Also as I have limited space it works very nice.  This a a very nice tool. The included crank for the router lift will rise and lower your router as good as any lift I've ever used.  The slide table and miter gauge are also very well made and make routing ends of boards very easy and safe.  Just looking at it set-up you are impressed. This is a very well made tool as all Festool items.

I had mine out of the boxes and set-up and in use in about an hour.  I haver my table set at a 30 degree angle to the wall and this allows me to cut with track saw and run boards through the router. Unless you have a large shop there is no perfect set-up. To me this is the best for what I do and what I have to work with for space. If you are doing long boards you may need to turn the table. For those times I will do what I need to.
