Site claims chair is solid wood. Back has vertically oriented grain, so in-line with the legs and no cross-grain construction, but perhaps needing thickness for strength. But, the seat has front to back oriented grain. Do you think this is weird? I assume the seat is attached in a way that allows for movement, or maybe the rails and such are so long that a little movement is OK.

Anyway, kind of surprising to me, but I also kind of like it. I wonder how one would go about building these perhaps making templates for the back and using a CNC router to sculpt the seat.

I kind of like the look, but not so sure about the stability over time?
I see a stretcher between the legs in the front, but none in the rear? It looks like it is just asking to split.

Judging a chair from a photo is fraught because:

1.  Chairs put huge demands on small joints.  Will it stay together?

And,

2.  So many angles and dimensions need to be correct for comfortable seating.

Of the two, the second one is of greater importance.  Not only must it be comfortable, but it has to remain comfortable for a 2 - 3 hours at a time.

My answer is “I like the way it looks, but will it stay together, and will it be comfortable?”
