Hi all,

I just ordered a TSC 55 KEB with the TID 18 with 4Ah batteries and chargers for a solid price.

Why was the TID 18 model number 576480 discontinued and replaced with with a TID18 with model number 577614?

I'm at a loss trying to figure it out.

Thanks!

I jumped into my stash of Recon descriptions for each SKU.

And as suspected, the main difference appears to be the included Systainer, which now has a lid compartment. Systainer changes typically trigger a SKU change while the tool remains the same.

Thanks ChatGPT for all the nice formatting of Recon HTML.

Cheers 🤙🏽

Wow, thank you!

I'm quite ok with the "old school" sustainer. Essentially the TSC55 KEB Basic and the older TID 18 kit for $750 Canadian. I'll take it.

I could be mistaken if this is the case with these two SKUs, but I remember in the summer of 2024, my local dealer had a TID18 kit on discount and I couldn't tell why. Turns out that the TID 18 kit was discounted because the SKU had changed because the Systainer had changed. The kit was exactly the same between that and the current model - except that the current model had the lidded Systainer to hold bits and stuff while the discontinued version had the plain lid.
