Hello Guys,
i have new TiD 18 and i have question. When i use this tool, low torque, really low RPM, tool is on right side(battery on the left) i hear scrathing noise inside the gear box/impact mechanism. Is this normal on Impact? It sound like the shaft is band. This impact is brand new, everything works.
TiD fall me from roof (1.5 metr high) to soft grass. I hope that fall dont break it  [big grin]

Thank You for answers. Take care. Bye

Hey man, I'm don't entirely understand your issue, and impacts do make quite a lot of noise. You mention the orientation, if it sounds different one way up than another I feel it might be broke?

Call Festool, if it's not showing obvious signs of a nasty accident, you'll likely have it fixed for free.

Exactly, with no load, Just scrumbling noise. Maybe is that impact mechanism. TID is my first impact. My PDC is really smooth and quiet, but that is different drill:)

Curious. Although not the ideal tool for the job. Could you use it for metal studs (in the T mode)?

I used PDC for 40 pieces screws 8x 220 and 10 8x240. Everthing works well, but my arms were dead :D Then i bought TID and for first 71 pieces 6x120 and 200 - 4x60 is really amazing tool, smooth and my arms are ok.

,,T" mode is for sheet screws. That mode i dont use, but few times i tried it - works.

TID is smooth, loud, leigweight driver :))

I have a lot of Festool tools and few of them i send for repair. Festool service reapired my tool adn send it back :)

Thanks.

FT is explaining the "T" mode is for sheet-metal, starts full RPM (3200?), then it lowers the RPM (~ 700) once it gets in. Did you tried it with plaster board on metal studs?

On tool, you have 4 modes.
,,T" full RPM. RPM slow when you reach wood - i think i mode 1.
1 RPM mode,
2 RPM,
3 RPm.

FOR ME is ,,T" mode useless. I dont use it. Just tried it with wood, different screws. Other materials - i dont know.
