Titan 2 sand paper

How come the 5" Titan 2 1200 grit sand paper  don't have any holes.

Hello, I believe there are certain sandpapers that when you get to certain grits they become polishing pad like and holes are not needed for smoothing like action.  The Platin2 series papers from 400-4000grit all are foam pads and the small amount of dust created by using them can go trough the foam pads into the vac, but not much dust is really created anyway.  I am not 100% on the Titan ones though as I have not seen the higher grits, most of my customers are wood guys.  Maybe some of the more automaker festoolians (titan users/sellers) can chip in on that.

Shawn is right about the polishing. When grits go over 1200 there's very little dust made. I think with grits of 1200 and higher the holes might introduce a problem you don't need. Every hole means another edge after all, and edges can trap dirt that can create scratches. When you're in the stage of very fine sanding/polishing, you certainly don't need those scratches. Combine that with the very small amount of dust made the risk might become bigger than the benefit of the holes.

Sorry, I overlooked this question.  The responses are correct.  Grits that high are considered for polishing.
