Too many emails

I would like to reduce the number of emails from Woodpeckers from 28 per week to something like 10 per week.  Any solutions?

I know it is my fault.  I bought a One-Time tool about 6 or 7 years ago.  Been on their list for a while.  But the carpet-bombing that is going on now is fairly recent.  Am I the only one?

Too funny
I just deleted 4 of their emails this morning. They seem to come in batches of 3, 4, 5 every day or two. Most of the time I don't even look at them, quick click delete.
Sometimes I'll look but I don't really order anymore. Really like their stuff but the price point has gotten just a bit too high. I have quite a few WP tools.

I reliably get 4 per day, combined between Woodpecker's and Blue Spruce.

The campaign seems to contain:
-Reminder of upcoming order deadlines
-Tool/deal of the day/Flash Sales
-One Time Tool Updates
-Blue Spruce Updates
-Xtra (partner brand specials)
-Potpourri

Woodpecker's/Blue Spruce has their own folder in my inbox.  I check it daily to see what is new, and usually don't make it past the subject, just marking them as read without opening them.

Woodcraft sends a single daily email.  I also subscribe to KCTool Tool of the Day, which I have shunted to the Woodcraft folder.

They are part of my morning routine for the most part.  Sometimes the emails from WP go out at midnight eastern and are in my folder before I go to bed.

It sure seems like they've recently increased the amount of marketing emails. It's common to wake up to at least 4 emails from them. At the bottom of the emails, there's a link to update your preferences. When I clicked, the page I arrived on was blank.

Maybe it's an all-or-nothing approach to receiving their emails.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten a dozen emails about the items left in your cart, Anthony.  [wink]

Speaking of which, if I'm just browsing and not looking to buy something immediately, I have started to only visit Woodpecker's, ToolNut, Woodcraft, and other retailers in an Incognito/Private browser session.  I'm tired of getting the "did you need help with something?" emails from simply looking at a listing on a website.

Ha. I get those too. I think the headline is something like, "Did you forget something?"

I have a bunch of incoming mail filters set up in Gmail so none of these hit the inbox and go straight to the "all mail" folder. I still have to sort through them, but by avoiding the inbox, I also avoid all the notifications on my other devices.

There's those and there's also the automated chats that popup in the lower right corner. "What can I help you with today?" Ugh.

It sounds like we have a club and we are not alone.

2ManyEmailsClub.com

There has to be a magic number that straddles the “That’s enough emails, for God’s sake” and “We’d like to stay in touch”.  For me, that would be 1 to 3 per week.  But if it is going to be three, then each email has to have some interesting content.  Otherwise it is a mosquito I want to slap dead.

Even if it is once a week, it should feature interesting content, or some significant sale.

Toolnut has “sales”, but they all seem to be factory sponsored and available everywhere. Not interesting at all.

I also hate the sites that have a quick popup that asked you to join for email updates when you are already signed up and used the link to get to their site.

Can't forget the recent trend of always wanting you to sign up for spam SMS marketing to unlock that extra 5% off one item

This is just lazy development, in my opinion.

I don't subscribe for ANYTHING (retailers, YouTubers, Vlogs or Blogs, etc., heck, not even Cable/TV programming), and so my inbox is always clean and all incoming emails are legit. Once in a blue moon, something of a marketing nature does sneak through Google's filter, and it can easily be blocked or unsubscribed. However, I did come across a few "unsubscribe" links that really did nothing when I clicked on them. Those are the ones that I find irritating, even more than the unsolicited mails themselves.

You might be subscribed to multiple sub lists that are targeted to specific types of customers. (Assume you are not getting daily 4 copies of the same note??)

Try hitting the unsubscribe link and it might give you a list of which types of emails you no longer wish to receive.

If not, try “unsubscribe from all” then re-enroll manually 48-72 hours later and see if things change.

It ranges from 3 to 6 per day from our combined brands. Our assumption is the delete button is pretty easy to use, but missing out on the one promotion you really are interested in would be a shame. You can opt out of our full mailing list and get a "digest" on Wednesday that has all of this week's Woodpeckers and Ultra-Shear promotions in one e-mail. The digest plus all Blue Spruce is an option, too, since BS only sends one every week or every other week. If you "unsubscribe" you'll get an email asking you to reconsider and giving you the digest option. If you want to short-circuit that, just send an email to mailroom@woodpeck.com and ask to be changed to weekly.

I may be in the minority here, but I don’t mind. There is usually enough info in the header to know if I what to open it. Even open and delete is not that big of a deal.

I have taken advantage of a couple of flash sales that probably would not have found out about otherwise.

My only gripe and it’s in general and not just WP is when you click the email and get directed to the site, they then ask you to sign up for emails. Seems like lazy coding.

Please tell me that's not happening on woodpeck.com. It certainly isn't supposed to.

Blue spruce definitely does. Just checked on order from an email and they wanted me to sign up on the redirect
