A car alarm might be the best to help them last longer.

I would be trying to make the van good rater than every box.
Running the AC to defog the windows will pull the water vapour out of the air and that is a start.
(AC on, fan on high, and if it is too cold, whack the heat up.)

Don't leave your tools in your van overnight. It will only take 5mins to carry in to your house, they will be warm and cosy and won't get stolen.
