Hey guys, check this out!  I just got these guide rail holders from FastCap and installed them on my garage door to hold my 55" rail. They work great! No more worrying about finding a place to keep my track saw rail from getting damaged...

This can be mounted horizontally or vertically using the included shelf that clips into the backside of it before you mount it to whatever surface you have chosen. Here's their video explaining how it works:

These are great!
I’ve been trying to come up with something like this using a combination of hooks from the hardware section at Lowe’s.

The use I need these for is on my utility truck I have a flip up bin that I store my rails in. I wanted to store these on the lid that flips up. I would have to silicone them instead of screw because I’m not sure how thin the bin lid is.

Anyway these are the perfect solution to my problem.

[member=71184]ryanwichman[/member] - Thank you for this! I have been meaning to build something for a while and have just not gotten to it. I can’t stop what I’m doing for $20 so I just ordered a pair. Thanks again!

BTW - I’m not too familiar with Fast Cap’s products. What else do they make that I can’t do without?

[member=70289]CarlsonCarpentry[/member] I definitely see where you are coming from with not wanting to use screws. While screws might not work the best, a small washer and a rivet gun plus a dab of silicone might do the trick.

[member=66185]Alanbach[/member] Glad to hear that these are going to work out for you! Some other things that I like that they sell are their green pro carpenter tape measure. It has the markings on both sides but it is unique because it is readable from both sides of the tape, if that makes sense. No more looking at numbers upside down.

Otherwise, it's honestly too hard to say because they have a ton of useful products. Another one is Kaizen foam if you're a fan of organization. They also sell the Paulk Workbench, if you're familiar with that.

Hi
I agree they have a number of great items. I also like their Mag Shims for setting Router bit or saw blade height, reveal etc etc fascap.com

I know Fastcap has this reputation as a forward thinking company that makes great products, but I wish they would better engineer these products and adopt better quality control. These track racks look like a quick solution and I like their kaizen foam. You can quickly put together tidy and protective organization. But I've gone through a couple of those kaizen knives. I quit buying them because they keep breaking. Those tapes are something else. I really like the featureset in them and will pick up a couple at a time for when I drop or lose one. But I'll be in Peachtree checking 10 just to find 2 that are accurate. So many of these have the hook incorrectly set so the first inch is actually an inch and an eighth. Their metric tapes are off as well. And so are the flat backs.  There are other products from them I've had problems with, these are just two I could think of quickly.

I thought this was pretty slick. Here's an example of them being used in a buddy's van:

Does FastCap still make these? I am having trouble finding them on their website, or anywhere online. Anyone got a link?

[member=71184]ryanwichman[/member] - Thank you very much for the heads up regarding FastCap. I received the Track Rack and installed it! Because you responded to me so quickly I was able to add a couple of their green tape measures to my order. I got the 16 footer and the new little one. That little guy is going to come in handy. The bad news is that I have been obsessed with their website and now their catalog. You are really costing me some $$$. I just ordered a Best Fence system and my wish list is growing. 😊😊😊

[member=66185]Alanbach[/member] glad I could help! I got that little tape measure myself, five actually, and have placed one at each of my machines using a rare earth magnet. No more searching for my tape! I have been eyeing those fences as well and think I’m gonna use them for my miter station build.

I have an old Delta gravity cart that holds my Makita SCMS. Most of the time it sits in its spot in my shop ready to go for a quick cut but when I have to cut something longer than 6’ or so I have to roll it out onto the driveway and extend the wings. I had been looking for a way to set it up for precise repeatable cuts. I am pretty sure that the Best Fence system is going to fit the bill perfectly. They (Matt) were (was) super helpful and figured out how to do adapt their system for this older uncommon stand.

[member=66185]Alanbach[/member] That’s awesome that they were able to help you out and adapt their system to fit your old miter saw cart. Let us know how the best fence works out for you! I’m looking at doing a permanent miter saw station modeled after Jay Bates’ design and have been on the fence, no pun intended, on whether to use their system or the one jay designed.

Just mounted my Guide Rail on my Garage Door with the Track Rack.  The install was easy and the quality and functionality were excellent.

[member=62711]krudawg[/member] I'm loving mine as well. I originally only got one set but have since picked up more to outfit my entire collection of rails. I used some 80/20 rail and some 3d printed brackets to set these all up in one spot on my garage door:

These are pretty cool! They look like they'd be easy to 3D print if you have a printer.
