Track Saw Guide Rail Problems

I just got one of the new guide rails FS 1900/2  KP along with the new connector FSV/2 bars. First thing i noticed is the new rail is different dimensions vs the older rails, if i get the saw to glide nice but tight on the K2 rail it is lose on the older 1400. Also am having a problem with the new FSV/2 bars allowing movement at the joint, i was cutting down a sheet of birch last night and kept having to align and re-tighten the connection between the two tracks. if i get it tight enough that it cant move it deforms the older 1400 track.
Has anyone else had any problems with these?

All rails are extrusions, which are prone to subtle dimensioning variations.  I don't think the new tracks have an intentionally narrower rail, I think your particular rails are just slightly different sizes.

Others with more experience in dealing with this will likely chime in, but I wanted to get it out there that it is highly unlikely that Fetool intentionally changed the dimensions of their tracks.

As for the connectors - do note that the one which needs to be tighetened is the one which keeps the rails aligned the "bottom" one.

That one needs to be tightened properly and also would not dent the rail as it is an expanding one like on the Maffel.

The "second" one on the top track should not be over-tightened as it could create bends indeed. Same as the older type Festool connectors.

If you -still- wanted to get force-tight the "second" connector, you may want to look at a set of Makita connectors which can be tightened way more before damaging the rails. These make sense especially if you have some rails permanently-joined though. They have different hex so is a PITA in daily use when combined with the Festool self-centering one.
