Does anyone know if the Kapex, while on the UG stand, can be transported laying on it's side? IOW, when the saw is folded down, on the stand, can you lay it on its side in the back of a vehicle? Is the stand capable of the weight in that regard? I ask this because the MW 1000 says specifically that it should not be transported laying on its back. Presumably, as the handle is not designed for the weight. So wondering if there might be a similar limitation for the UG stand. I hope that makes sense. Grace and peace, Michael.

I cannot answer if that's an acceptable way to do it, but I wouldn't do it myself. The UG isn't a super beefy structure in itself by appearance...it's designed to be secure and stable in use and easily portable when knocked down. The Kapex has a lot more mass, so I'd want that sitting on its base inside the vehicle (strapped down so it doesn't go flying when "that idiot pulls out in front of you" along your route to/from wherever. While I don't have this combination currently and am not speaking from actual experience, it's on my acquisition list. (Gonna get the holiday bundle with the stand even though I don't need the stand in the shop...it might be helpful when I'm doing work in the house)

I have both Kapexes on UG stands and every day I transport one of them laying down flat in the back of my pickup truck.
I and my carpentry associates have been doing this for 10 years with no I'll effects.
The MW1000 has tabs on the handle to assist you in moving it into a truck bed or allow it to slide into and out of higher vehicles. I do transport that on its back also but I can see reasons they would recommend against it. The drawers come to mind and if you have systainers on it, they'll be sideways. The handle also has a pivot and pin which is may not be as stable as the welded steel frame of the UG but so far thats none the worse for wear on mine.

Transport both of these horizontally all the time. Only time I had an issue with either was an employee forcing the locking clip while not aligned and snapping it on the MW1000.
