tricks for glue clean up??

Try a disposable straw on soft or unset glue. That stumpy nubs guy has a tip on this a few months back. I'd link to his video but can't find it at this moment.

I use this little guy from Wood River...

It also has a left, right and pointed blade. I think I got it a few years ago for about 30 bucks from Woodcraft. Helps a lot in corners!

That is perfect.  I'm going to pick one up.

For the OP's situation, I would use a gooseneck chisel or a razor blade.

A good (and cheap) way to get glue out of tight spaces before it dries is to take a cheap plastic drinking straw and cut the tip at a steep angle.  It gets into tiny places, its sharp, and the glue goes up the straw instead of smearing around.  Great for dovetailed drawers.

For my own work, I prefinish and tape.

One trick that works well on PVA glue is to grab some sawdust from the same wood and rub it into the excess. I t soaks it up and you can just rub it off. If you use water it just spreads it into the grain.
