My hardly used Trion jigsaw doesn't feel right :-\ it's about a year old and like new. Awhile back a blade bent up and melted with a shower of sparks while I was cutting close to an edge. The blade wandered but the foot couldnt move as it was tight against an edge hence the sparks and bent blade.  Hope that makes sense.

Anyway I've been using it lately and it doesn't sit smoothly as you progress through the cut. It wobbles about and wants to jump similar to when you use downcut blades.

Anyone think what could be causing this ?

Have you checked the carbide guides? It's possible they went out of adjustment when your blade hit them hard.

Are you using a splinter guard?  I have had the splinter guard either bow downward slightly or discovered a little plastic build up around the slot. Either of which can make the saw not sit flat and feel tippy. If it is tipping that could also cause  a  bit of blade pinch making it  a little jumpy.

I will check Seth next time I use it. I put a brand new splinter guard on it today. I will try using it without one see what happens.

I have had the same issue and I have stopped using the splinter guard because of difficulty seeing the cut.  I have a big assortment of blades but, the description of which blade to use is lacking or I haven't found it yet.
