Hello all,

Could somebody explain to me the difference between the Trion and Carvex jigsaws.

I know some people claim that they have issues with the Carvex and I am just curious as to the difference between the two jigsaws.

Thanks,

Keith

The Trion is older, heavier and does not have interchangeable shoes. I asked a similar question a few weeks ago and when I went to a Festool demo day after seeing them both I decided to go with the more modern Carvex. The Carvex has a lower power rating than the Trion but the Carvex has a brushless motor and as such matches if not betters the Trion.

The strobe light on the Carvex I thought was a bit of a gimmick, but after having used it a few times now think it is a great addition to the tool.

I have a D handle Trion and a barrel Carvex. I like them both, they are both good saws.

The light being a strobe timed to the blade does sound like a gimmick, but the fact that it is a light and I can see what I  am doing  is what matters to me as far as that goes. I like the light. I had always wished the Trion had one.

The Trion feels a bit more solid to me but that is probably just because it is heavier.

I think the DC on Carvex is a touch better. Partly due to it not getting clogged by small chips or curls.

No battery Trion available!

It's really a features game, for "traditional use" the Trion does a great job. I picked up a Trion with the sole purpose of dropping in a CMS module. CARVEXs for other, but still hang on to an old Hitachi.

Trion user here. And I confess, I do tape my finish cuts.

The trion will do whatever you want a jigsaw to do and it will do it very well. The carvex offers some other features not found on other jigsaws so if you want those features go for the carvex.

I have both barrel grip models. If you need the best circle cutter on the market and need interchangeable bases for different applications, then the Carvex is a good machine. If you need a solid jigsaw that is proven and do not need the attachments, then I would save the money at get the Trion. Both saws have the same blade guide system so no difference between the two saws. Personally I do not care about the light on a jigsaw so that does not matter as much to me. Try them both and see which one feels better to you or take advantage of the 30 day to see if it works for your purposes.
