I was in Rocklers today picking up some hardware and i noticed that they have a display of a modular system from Triton . Very simular to festool a work table the top pops off and a table saw put in same with a router table and a pull saw.

It looks nice however its definately a DIY system. One thing I did notice is the Table saw had its own motor unlike Festools which use either a TS 55 /TS75. The blade guard was american style with a splitter and anti kick back pawls. But it is a well thought out blade guard.
The reason I said it looks DIY is bc there is a lot of plastic on these tools.

Of course they are relatively inexpensive compared to Festools to. Look at the saw only real difference I can see is that the saw has its own motor, and the anti kick back pawls on the blade guard and it has a NA style fence.

I wonder if Festool made some slight changes to the CMS , the saw blade guard and added a regular fence like the one they sell as a accessory (prescio 50's fence)  it could be sold in NA.

Anyway here the link, just in case ya'll might be interested:

There is another very real difference between the Triton saw module and the Festool saw module.  The Triton saw module is available in the US.

And I wouldn't exactly call it DIY.  I've seen some pretty ricketty work surfaces and some pretty cheesy little jobsite saws being used by professionals.  Let's just say it's not over built.

One thing that strikes me is that Triton included a wheel kit.  Naturally, of course, unthinkable not to, standard procedure, what are you talking about 'no wheels' of course there are wheels, every work center type table has wheels or at least has an option for wheels, anybody in their right mind.....  You get it.  All these years and Festool has never offered a wheel package for the MFT.  That's just plain weird.

I looked at this before and if I was working in a really small place or apartment, I would seriously consider this option.  However I never used or tried changing the modules.

This is Triton's second version of their work centre, or possibly their third?

The previous version, workcentre 2000 was more metal but was less modular in comparison to the cms system but had attachments.http://www.tritontools.com/en-ZA/Product/Workcentre Systems/Workcentre Systems/WCA201

Even though Triton is not seen as an industrial brand I do believe many people are using some of their tools in production work.
Their 1/2 routers seem very good and highly regarded.

I like the concept. More so than Festool CMS-TS. Drop it in and good to go. Amazon reviews though aren't great. Good concept poor execution.
