Triton makes a  3+1/4 hp router which can plunge/ or remain stationary. This same router has won many innovative and qaulity awards. That being said I love the of 1400 router from festool, I've tested it at the local klingspors woodworing shop and it is amazing! If you have one for sale let me know! Forgive my ignorance of this topic, but can anyone give me a reason to buy the of 2200 over the triton 3+1/4 router? Is their any major difference? Also, has the of 2200 won any awards? And has anyone worked with both? I don't want to hear the ' would you rather drive a Toyota or a Lexus" comparison, I want factual based , reasonable difference in price point and qaulity and any other mitigating/aggravating factors. I love festool over any other but I just want someone to talk me into the new purchase with an informative, polite , and educated response , thank you

Hi,

I have 2 of the 3.25 HP Triton routers. One is in a router table & the other used freehand. I think it is a great router for in a table but a real pig ergonomically to use in hand. The other weak point of the router is the collet chuck. It is not as good a quality as I would like to see. But in a router table I am very happy with it.

This is exactly the same with me.  2hp freehand, until I bought my Festool routers, and the 3 1/4 in a router table. Since purchasing the Festool routers, the 2hp has languished on the shelf.  I expect to build another table and use the 2hp there.
