Thanks for all the input! I wound up ordering a TS 55 with the CT 22, and some accessories from Bob Marino today.
What convinced me to hold off on the MFT/3 for now was that based on the suggestions here, I think I can get by with either my workbench or making a cut table of some sort, and I already have sawhorses that I can use for the base of such a thing. Also, I talked with Bob a bit today before making my purchase, and he did not really try to sell me on the MFT/3 even though I think I seemed to be interested in it. To me, that says something about how (non) critical the MFT/3 is to have, and a lot about Bob, who probably could have told me instead that I really really really needed an MFT/3 and I would have just gone for it.
Thanks, everyone!
