TS 55 Anti-tip

I guess the downside is it won't work when you have joined rails or some other accessory using the slot.

The anti kickback approach has the same limitation, but AlexR's seems to offer better precision. Now people have at least 4 different options -- each with its pros and cons -- to support the saw base for making miter cuts.

Hello all.
I'm the guy who has produced a small number of the anti-tip fence spacers for the Mafell MT55, Bosch GKT55 and Festool TS55 being discussed here.
To clarify, just flipping the Festool fence over to take up the gap created by sitting the saw on the guide rail won't work. The rail raises the saw base approx 5mm. The part of the Festool TS55 parallel fence profile that acts as the parallel guide is approx 10mm. When used as a parallel fence off rail, the top of this part of the profile is flush with the workpiece. Obviously then, if you were to sit the saw atop the guide rail with the fence in this orientation, it would lift the saw by approx 5mm.
Below is a picture - a screen shot from Peter Millards video - of the Festool parallel fence being used off rail. I'm a Mafell user myself so can't show the lift this would cause on rail but as I said, remembering the part of the fence profile sitting below the workpiece is around 10mm and the guide rail only lifts the saw around 5mm, you can see the problem.
There are of course other solutions to this problem. I myself in the past have used rips of wood and even another guide rail to rest the parallel fence of to create an outrigger. Just always found these a pain, particularly under pressure as we often are on job sites. The solution I came up with is to keep things simple. Mine are permanently attached to the parallel fences as I always use my plunge saws with guide rails. This makes keeping the saw balanced at 45 an unthinking process. It's also designed to not obstruct use as a parallel fence off rail.
For Festool users, the device will work with the TS55 and TS75 fences as these are the same, just the 75 fence is a little longer. It won't work with the HK fences unfortunately. This is because, although the HK uses the same profile as the TS range for the fences, it's in a different orientation.
For Mafell users, the device will work with the MT55, the old KSP55/65/85 and K55/65 as they all share the same fence profile, as does the Bosch GKT55.
They're currently being sold throughhttps://karpenter.co.uk/ if any of you are interested. I can also arrange a purchase directly if you contact me (Bisch Basch Bosch) via facebook messenger. I only produced a very limited run and will very likely be a one time tool. I'm a full time carpenter and this venture was really just to satisfy the interest of fellow tradesmen and makers.
Any questions I'll do my best to help.
All the best
Stew
