TS 55 Baseplate upgrade (wearing of 'base plate nibs' eliminated)

Is this upgrade now being shipped?  How about on the TS 75?

Bob?

I am guessing, but this will be a replacement item, given to those who have a problem with the parts wearing prematurely. Under normal woodworking conditions, this is not an issue, but rather with those cutting hundreds of feet of solid surface per week may experience premature wear. Don't know about the 75 either, but more info should be available soon.

Minimal,

The "nibs", as I refer to them, are opposite the green cam adjusters (on the underside of the base plate).  The nibs are two raised parts of the slot where the guide rail runs.  When mounted on the rail the saw runs between the cam and the two nibs, presumably to reduce the effort required to move the saw if the rail was in complete contact with that side of the slot.  Easier to see than to explain!

In any used saw you will see how the coating of the base plate wears from these two nibs and in extremely heavy use it is possible to see how they could wear away completely.  You are quite correct about the detail on the cam adjusters on pre-improved TS55.  Who knows why?  I would deduce that the excellent Festool warranty would replace any worn base plate.

Hmm. My TS55 baseplate has the "slots" that are shown in the picture you refer to...On mine, the slots are clearly designed to hold a flat piece of material in a "sprung" state, such as when the rail adjustment cams are pressed against them.

Yep, mine's got them too, it looks like someone was thinking ahead. Of course, I want these little assesories. Bob, send 'em to me  :)
