Has Festool made any changes to the TS 55 in the last few years? I bought mine about 2 (maybe 2.5) years ago and I had someone tell me it wasn't as good as the new ones with all the new features?

Not to worry.  If you have a TS 55 it is like all the rest.  The previous models were called ATF 55 and ATF 65.  Enjoy your new piece of equipment for many years to come.

There was a change in the base where the gibs grab the guide rail a few years ago.

That's what I thought, but it was pretty insignificant from what I remember.

Who told you that?

A person who I think was just trying to crap on my tools because they didn't have any festools.

If you have the black nylon strips on both sides of the slot, you have the latest version.

Mine just has green wheel things to turn.

Mental note, make sure they are not tight, or can look like a fool trying to use it. [embarassed]

The only thing I've heard was the base thingy and that is insignificant.  You are fine.

Can anyone think of an improvement they could make to the next one?  I can't think of anything that I would want/need that isn't on the existing TS 55/75

Well, for one they can put a doohickey on the thingamajig to stop the saw from falling off the rails when cutting 45 degree angles.

The depth setting can be set for the actual rail so there is no thinking involved when cutting to a rough depth

and a nifty feature that is on the Makita saw is a pre-set depth switch for scoring particle boards.

(The Makita also has the doohickey to stop it from falling off the rail.)

Then, I believe, we will have the first perfect plunge saw and it will be from FESTOOL!!!  [big grin]

I also dislike the directional dust extractor on it. I understand that they made it that way so that people without a vac can just push it to one side but then I find it either goes in your face (Up...don't even ask) on the wood (left or down) or all over you (right). It's manageable with a hose but still annoying because to the right or up and it has to go over your shoulder, to the left it tends to get in the way of the plug so down seems to be the best option but then if you have the guard at the end of the rail and you need to start the cut there it then pushes up against it and pushes the saw up. Don't get me wrong it's an awesome saw and this is just a little annoyance.

I also think having something to stop it from falling over when cutting a bevel would great.

Put a dust bag on it from some other miter saw or something.

It will catch almost all the dust.  I do this sometimes out side when I don't need to drag my CT out as well.

Hello,
can anyone think of a way to lock the direction of the directional dust port ? (not permanently)

Thanks
