Hello,

I know that the TS 55 CMS insert is NAINA, but I am headed across the pond for a few days and was wondering if picking one up for my CMS would be worth it.  I have the CMS VL and truely like it and have gone back and forth on the TS insert.

For those folks in both EU/UK and the US, how do you rate it?  I know that it is not supported here and potentially can void warranties and such (insert red text here) but I am looking to consolidate space and take advantage of my cross pond trip.

Thoughts on the matter?

cheers

Bryan

Warning: The Festool CMS System is approved for use with only the OF 1400 and OF 1010 routers in the US and Canadian markets.  It is not approved for use with the OF 2200, nor with any of the CMS modules currently available outside the US and Canadian markets (TS, Jigsaw and sanding modules).  Festool USA does not  endorse the use of these components and will not support them with spare  parts or repairs. The use of anything other than the OF 1400 and OF 1010 routers and their related accessories with the CMS will void the warranty agreement on the entire system for customers within the US and Canada. Festool does not endorse the application or use of any Festool product in any way other than in the manner described in the Festool Instruction Manual. To reduce the risk of serious injury and/or damage to your Festool product, always read, understand and follow all warnings and instructions in your Festool product's Instruction Manual.

Well at least I didn't actually insert in the sentence  [wink]

I looked at it, but decided it wasn't for me.

Just be aware that there are separate CMS inserts for the original TS55 and TS55 REQ, and also 110V and 230V versions. Dealers tend not to stock them so if you decide to get one, perhaps you should order it in advance?

Thats true - the cheaper dealers like FFX generally take 5 working days to get hold of items.

I realise that this is not approved for NA users but it is approved here in Europe.

I have the CMS-TS with a TS55R permanently mounted and this is (now) my only table saw.

It is a brilliant piece of kit which I use most days and the results are always Festool (oops) perfect.

The great thing is that it is so easy to move around the workshop. My old (big and heavy) table saw only cut 10mm thicker wood but took up over half of one room in the workshop. I cut all the hardwoods, including oak, with the universal blade I have no trouble cutting 50mm (2 inches) thick stock.

To anyone undecided - just get one.

I have had the TS55R module for the GE unit for a few months. I initially had a problem with the guard carrier (the riving knife extension) which I have since resolved. I also felt that to get the most out of it I really needed the two extensions (width and length), the LA stopper and the sliding table. I think there is something of a learning curve but now I have got used to it I think it is fantastic.
