TS 55 REQ blade squareness and cut problems

Other than cutting the track strip I'm finally using my TS 55 REQ for the first time. I'm using it to crosscut 8/4 hard maple and the first thing I noticed is the blade isn't at 90. I loosened both ends, moved it back until it stopped, tighten the rear knob then the front. Did another test cut and same problem. Got the supplemental manual out and couldn't find anything on adjusting to 90. Found a little set screw by the 0 indicator and tried that. After several iterations and test cuts my gauge went from 0 to 1/2 but now my cuts are wacky. I'm using a jointed board and Woodpecker's square and here is what I'm seeing. The front edge of the board has light at the bottom (like this /) and rear has light at the top (like this \). I loosed and tightened the knobs and did a few more test cuts and same results. I clamp my track down with each cut.

Any ideas on what is going on and how to correct them? Am I not adjusting blade squareness correctly?

This was a problem identified by others. There is a process which was outlined on the FOG some time ago to set the 0 degree stop. I think if you search using either "square" or "perpendicular" or "90 degree" and TS55 you should be able to find these posts. While some others have said they have had this as an ongoing problem, once I set my stop I have not had the problem again.

There are also posts which tell how to install a set screw in the appropriate place (duplicating the design of the previous version of the TS55) but I don't have those references and I did not find the need to do that so far.

Hopefully others can provide the exact links for these references.

It sounds like you are getting deflection on the blade through that hard maple. It is a lot of depth for the 55. I have a 75 I use through that material.

You can run through it a few times to see if that helps. Set the saw to cut 15 -25mm at a time. It will take longer, but the cut might be a lot better.

I am having the same problem on soft wood. Tried everything in the owners group suggestions. I feel I have a new shelf tool. It is great on the shelf.
