Sean, what is it again that makes this saw better/superior/different from the standard TS55 again.  I remember reading some stuff about it when it came out in the UK, but I can't recall what was the hoopla all about.

Also, do you happen to know if there will be a similar replacement for the TS75 sometime down the road?

Kevin, biggest differences are the flush to wall housing and micro adjustable depth controls.  Also can bevel to 47.  Some of our Euro boys should chime in.  They're the real men to ask.  I havent had my hands on one yet.

I have been looking for the details on the difference between the 2 saws ( TS 55 EQ 561-432 and the new TS 55 REQ 561-556) too.

The UK site reviews the 55R (I assume that its the same as TS 55 REQ) http://www.festool.co.uk/products/pages/product-detail.aspx?pid=561554&name=circular-saw-ts-55-r-eq-plus-gb-110v has a few magazine reviews (scroll down to the bottom of the page)

Seems like Sean nailed all of the differences.

I am still waiting to find out when it will be available for purchase in the US....

Does this saw have any more power than the old 55-EQ? My 55 is a bit under-powered for my tastes, I am toying with adding a 75 to the stable or upgrading to this model. I have yet to need the extra rip capacity of the 75 but I have needed extra power in hardwoods, for example I have had to make 2 passes in 6/4 maple.
