Hello,

This is my first post being that I just joined the festool family. I'm in the market for a track saw and am looking at the ts55 but don't know which one to get. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

The REQ is the newest version. The TSC is the same saw just cordless and with a brushless motor. The EQ has a few less features but I can't speak to them. Id imagine you would want to get the newest version, the REQ.

[welcome] to The FOG, Francis

I purchased my first TS55 in January 2006, which was soon after they became available in the USA. That first TS55 is still working as good as new. Since then as my cabinet making business grew I purchased many additional TS55. Then more recently when the TS55REQ was introduced I have bought a few of those.

Most of the features new to the TS55REQ do not improve performance breaking down sheet goods using guide rails. This is the task for which I use TS55. Mind you the TS55REQ is a very fine and accurate saw.

It has been long enough since the TS55 ended production that I doubt you will find a new one. Given you are new to Festools I suggest only buying a new saw. Even if you need to cut sheet material thicker than 19mm (3/4") the TS55REQ is very good.

The larger TS75 has slightly more power and therefore is more efficient ripping solid lumber. I own some TS75 but for cutting 19mm sheet material I prefer the TS55.

As mentioned before EQ is now longer available new from dealers. REQ has the following differences:
Improved trunions, bigger with more overlap, supposedly more rigid, which is better for bevel cuts or mounting the saw in CMS.
Additional plastic pads in the rail slot. Now there is no metal to metal contact with guide rail and less wear.
Different (better) depth adjustment stop with dual depth indicator.
Other than that two saws are identical.

Add to this ^^^

The EBQ didn't have a flush blade housing so you couldn't run it against another surface (like the wall)
Also i have a feeling the EBQ didn't have the +1 -1 degrees either side of the 0-45 bevel. Maybe I'm wrong on that?

Thanks everyone. I bought a new TS 55req this week and might be adding the lr32 next week for the few kitchen jobs I have coming up. Thanks for your help everyone!!

The Americans never got the 'B' I think. As punishment for their 110V, ghehe  [tongue]

With part ABSA-TS 55 (#491750) you can still run the TS55 against a wall. But on it's own, yeah, the dust port is flatter on the outside on the -R.
