TS 55 stuck in ON position...scary

On Friday I was laying  anew plywood subfloor. Going left to right, cutting a full sheet to width, two rails joined together.

At the end of the cut, the saw did not come up, the trigger and the safety button were stuck ON and only by shaking the saw ( with the blade spinning and no place to put it down) I got it to stop.  Lucky for me I managed to overcome my instinct to grab the base and pull it down.

Any ideas/similar experiences?

TIA

I probably would have untwisted the cord, and then started shaking myself ;)

Didja send it in yet? Maybe something to do with the fast fix?

both of mine the 55 and 75 sometimes sticks and does not pop back up, but the saw has stopped.  sorta jerk it a little and then it comes back up.  but never with the blade still spinning.

strange but true..... tales of festoollyiagans only come out at night!

I've never had a stuck saw or trigger.  You definitely need to get it checked out sooner than later.  I can't even think of what could do that.  How deep was the plunge set to?  See if there's a difference half way vs all the way.

Chris...

Depth setting was 18mm, connected (as always0to a CT22).

Should I try to blow it clean with my compressor? I bought it in May 2008, IIRC and it has been lightly used.

The problem seems to be that there is enough play in the switch to make it stick when some lateral pressure is applied.

Are the switches generally loose on Festools.? The switch on my Makita saw  is solid like a rock.

Sending it in to my "dealer" (Hafele Canada) is my last option (right after sliding naked on razor blades and landing in a tub of iodine)

Regards
Mark

If those were the choices,I`d go with the Iodine bath...running wild saws are not a good thing to play around with.....I had a friend get tied up with a router that had gone wild and he only came away with 60 stiches to his forearm(note to self never route with sleeves down)wound him up real good.

Why?  It's under warranty, let them fix it.  If you blow it out with air, etc. do you want to find out that wasn't it?  Not worth losing my fingers.

Thanks Rick. I will call them tomorrow.

I was able to "replicate" it twice on Friday and twice before that (don't recall the exact day)

Then definitely take the cautious route.  Too dangerous to not want it fixed.  Also, my trigger doesn't have any play and never sticks even a bit.
