Hi,

I have been using festool for a couple years, For some reason my ts 75 is not cutting square edges. I played around with the adjusting screws a little bit, but haveing a hardtime really dialing it . I will be edge joining some really nice sage wood, so I cannot be off at all. Anyone who has a great technique for this, that would be great.

Any help is appreciated,

Thank you

Justin

I have never done this and I am not sure where I saw it but, you could butt the two edges you want to join together and saw right along the line between the two boards. The saw kerf should remove enough from each edge to allow you to glue them together and you don't have to worry about weather the blade is square so long as your reference surface is flat. When you separate the two boards you should have two complimentary (matched) edges ready for glue up.
Hope this makes sense.

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG!

Unless something is amiss with the saw you should be able to dial it in with the screws.  Cut something thick that way you have a longer reference for squaring it. If you have a saddle square they are very useful for checking the squarness of the cut.  It takes very little turning of the screws to change the squarness by quite a bit. So once you do the first reference cut just keep tweaking it until you get it right on.

Here is the link to the jointing example with a festool saw.  It is on John Lucas excellent woodshopdemos.com site.

Thanks djwong! Probably where I saw it.
I know it says that, that's Bob Marino but it's gotta be an imposter [big grin].

Thank you Guys, everything has been very helpful. I find sometimes if there is  a small gap, if I flip the piece, than it balances out the play.
Since the pieces I am joining are all very small. I will take my time with the screws, on a nice thick piece of stock. I have been using a very nice square and holding the piece to a light, wherever I see light coming through than I know I am off in that direction.  Kind of the old machinist way of checking an engine head.

The cutting two boards at once concept is great, I'll be sure to use that from now on.

I had this same problem and was able to solve it with the supplemental manual offered at festoolusa.com. Go to products, then to the 55 or 75 saw and at the bottom you will see a supplemental manual offered. After my saw was knocked off my MFT table my cut quality was returned following this manual. It will explain what set screws to loosen for your particular adjustment. The procedure that sets the rear of the blade slightly away from the splinter guard will greatly improve your cut quality. Good Luck

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG.  [smile]

It is good see that the supplemental manuals are getting used.  They are an excellent resource.
