What's keep the tracksaw on the rail in the vertical postion in this video??  [eek]

Is this a Festool accessory?

Thanks,

In reality, everything is rotating including the camera. The rail and saw are staying horizontal.  [tongue]

Maybe you could send the YouTube channel a message and ask about it...

I'm not familiar with it, but I've seen something similar. I don't remember where.

It looks like there is some sort of clamp or clip at the end of the rail that foot plate slides under and holds the saw base to the rail. I expect is would be a metal part because of the weight of the saw.

He machined it so that the hinge uses the clip to attach to the rail instead of the metal bar.

This looks like a great idea. I would use this for my setup. Would it be possible to share a closer view of the design?

I would definitely use that

He posts on the FOG but I can't remember his user name. He makes the imperial labels for the track saws and routers. He said if he thought enough people would buy them he would sell them.

I built a big old honking one out of plywood a few years ago and called it the "TS55 Garage".  It was so big I had to use a 55" guide I think.  As others began modifying the design it ended up with a simple straightforward clip that was as small as the one seen here.  It's something you can easily make on your own.

Here's the thread on the garage.

But my garage had an advantage over all the lighter designs.  My garage was so heavy that it offered counter balancing.  When I let go of the saw the guide would rise on it's own, depending on hose and cord conditions.  It wouldn't go all the way vertical but enough to move and place work pieces.  I thought it was pretty sweet.  You could probably achieve that with just a little clip but you'd have to use a longer guide and the saw would have to be pretty far out there.

Sort of turned the MFT into a 24" crosscut SCMS.

I haven't used it in a long time.  I don't know why.  The hose and cord would sometimes get in the way.  Sure looks like it's working for him.

And by the way, I've got the FastEdge rig exactly as shown.  I like it.  I've got two kitchens out there with the vinyl edge.  One is 3 1/2 years old.  No problems at all, so far.  I did have some adhesive squeeze out initially.
