TS 75" saw now shipped with the 75" rail.

Hi,

Perhap you could contact Festool nd get them to swap out just the rail under the 30 guarantee. I can't imagine that Festool would want to take back the saw and rail if they could just do the rail.  This swapping under the guarantee idea may seem like it is taking advantage, but the fact is that it is legitimate to be dis-satisfied with the 55" rail in combination with the 75 saw.
If you have to pay shipping both ways  though, you may as well just buy the 75" rail. You will probably want the 55" anyway. For shorter cuts just because it is handier.

Semeza I have the 75" rail.

I was basically fighting for the guys that  maybe can only afford one rail. They should definitley have the 75" for a TS 75 if it is the only guide they have. At the very least since Festool has agreed that the TS 75" is the  correct rail for the saw, they should exchange out the 55" for the 75" free of charge. As well as shipping, for anyone with a TS 75. I don't care if its a year old. That's good business.  Like a voluntary recall.

There is a definite safety factor trying to cut a 48" board with the 55" rail using the TS 75. I did not like it from the start, that is why I purchased the 75" right away after I cut my first sheet of plywood..

That being said it is so easy to sell Festools people can sell there 55" for about what they paid for them and then upgrade themselves.

I am not a whiner or looking for free stuff. I appreciate you backing me thinking this is legitimate.

Hi,

The "Perhap you...." part was  supposed to be a general "you" not a specifically directed "you".      :)

It just occurred to me that there should be a relatively low cost source of extension rails (at least the raw material) right here on the FOG. I remember a few people lamenting about inadvertent damage that had befallen their guide rails. Well, here is an opportunity for them to recover some of the value of those rails to help defray the cost of a replacement.

If someone were to offer me a 12" to 15" section of uninjured guide rail (The edges wouldn't have to be squared up, I could do that part myself) I would be interested. Would $1 an inch be a reasonable offer?

Maybe this should be posted in the Classified Ad section.

What would you do with such a short piece Charles? Add it on to a 55" rail?

Yes, that is exactly what I would do. A lot easier to use the short extension than adding a 45" to the 55" rail.

Shh, Michael.  I'm trying to create a market for my old rail here.  :D
