Simple anti-tip device made out of Instamorph.  It actually clicks into place when pushed up against the saw, so no more worries about saw tippage when making angled cuts.

If it's that simple, Festool should be very red faced indeed !

Good one.

FWIW, I just got a virus alert when I tried to open that link.

Amazon sells Instamorph in different sized containers.

Seems like it just transfers the instability to the track. Does it work for the shorter length tracks too?

I usually have my guide rails clamped down, but this would work on any length of guide rail.

It does transfer instability to the track---when left unatttended--- when you are actually using the saw your hand pressure is more than enough to keep the track locked down.  an unstable track being better than an out of alignment saw.

Great idea Mike.

I have never seen this before.
Is it expensive?

Cheers, Justin.

Where you been?!?!  Pete Halle has been posting ALOT about instamorph! I think he has shares in the company!

How did you form it to release willingly? I assume you formed it by smashing it into the grooves and the casting on the saw. The grooves I can see you just slide it out the end but I'm wondering how you get it to release the saw.

I wasn't looking for a tight fit, just wanted something to keep the saw from tipping and would slide into place.  I actually put some painter's tape over the saw base to prevent the Instamorph from mashing into the grooves.  There is a small tab though where I formed the Instamorph around right at the back edge of the saw base and that's what now clicks it into place.  So I can have the saw on the guide rail and then just slide the Instamorph up behind it...click...and the saw won't tip over.  Very easy to pull it back to disengage as well.

Peter Halle does not have stock in the company.  [eek]  He just got some for Christmas and once he started spending time in his first ever shop some ideas started to flow.  Several of his ideas have already be re-melted and used for others.  [thumbs up]
