How many times have you sharpened a TS55 blade I just bought a spare 48 tooth blade this morning as the old one was slightly burning an oak door on Thursday. The old one has been sharpened once and I just wondered how many times you guys have sharpened yours before throwing them away ?

Unless you're getting the blade really, really blunt before sharpening (like cutting up cement board or similar) then you should get minimum 6-8 sharpenings out of a blade.

My Festool ones have been sharpened maybe 4 times each so far.

Sounds good what are you paying for 48 tooth blades at the moment out of curiosity ? I got one from my local dealer as I needed it for this week, he is doing them for £37.50+vat.

I have three of the 48t blades on rotation. The third is a Frued blade made to fit the TS55. I have been using the Frued quite a while and it hasnt needed sharpening yet but I've sharpened my other two Festool blades twice each. I think my Kapex blades needs a sharpening!

Hi joiner 1970
In my opinion your TS55 blade should last for years and years even with lots of use and lots of resharpenings  [big grin]

I have had some of my blades for more than ten years, admittedly they are not all Festool blades  [big grin]

If your blade is burning Oak having had it resharpened, I think you need to re look at your saw doctor! [mad] [mad]

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't be cutting oak with a 48 tooth blade.  Check out the 28t Tenryu or Festool Panther blades for hardwoods.  The Tenryu has replaced my 48t stock blade for 90% of my cuts.

I second Kevin's opinion as the 48 tooth ts55 blade is somewhat like an 80 tooth 10" blade which may crosscut solid oak ok, but would make for some tough ripping for sure.
