TS55 changing to a blade with a different kerf size

I've got a TS55 with the stock 48 tooth blade and when I look at the Festool site the 48 tooth blade (listed as "fine") has a 2.2mm kerf, but all the other blades have a 2.5mm kerf.  If I switch to a different kerf size, does that imply that the rail guide strip will be cut differently as well?  Or is the std 48tooth blade also 2.5mm (and not listed in the accessories section)?

The Festool USA 2011/2012 printed catalog has many significant errors on page 62, which covers TS55 saw blades.

As Tom wrote above, all of the current TS55 Festool blades have a 2.2mm kerf. All have cat numbers beginning with 496, except the Fine Tooth Blade shipped with the TS55. That was always a 2.2mm kerf, so its original cat number 495 377 was not changed.

When anyone offers to sell you TS55 saw blades, be sure to double check the cat numbers.

This issue of the mistakes on page 62 about the TS55 blades has been discussed frequently on FOG since that catalog was issued in early 2011. It has also been discussed up and down the Festool USA organization.

But shouldn't it at least be fixed on their website?

Festool USA has a manager of e-commerce named Shane Holland, who also is the administrator of the FOG website.

Perhaps you should send Shane a PM or e-mail about your concerns.

Chances are that a new Festool USA catalog will be issued soon, to go along with a new price list reflecting the 1 February 2013 price changes.

Long ago it was suggested using a different proof-reader for the new catalog.

My apologies about the website not being up-to-date. I had been informed by our product manager a week or so ago about the blade kerfs and hadn't gotten the site updated. It's now up-to-date. For the TS 55, all blades have a 2.2mm kerf with the exception of the 14-tooth Panther blade.

As for the catalog, it was printed two years ago and products change during that time. However, a new catalog will be available very soon.  [wink]
