Hi all,
I am new here and I have a problem with my TS55 EBQ CMS combo.
I am trying to cut pine wood. 30mm thick. I hope google translated it right  ;) I am making " scaffolding wood furniture "
When I try to cut the planks I have to push really hard to get the wood through (should not be needed) and then the saw hangs (stops) a couple of times. So I have to back my plank out and start again. My precision is gone, it takes up more time and I guess it is not that good for my saw...
What am I dong wrong...?
As you can see, it is doing it with very thin cutoffs to.
The wood presses really hard against the blade.

Thanks for any help.
Aaron

Aaron,

Are you using the 48 tooth blade that came with the saw? If so, that is your problem.

You need the 12-tooth 'Panther' blade, code 496301, for ripping solid timber.

First, [welcome] to the FOG.

Second, I second what JRB said.  The blade shown in your picture is not the right choice for ripping lumber. Fortunately, blades are relatively cheap - so go get the correct one and report back, please?

And then post more pictures of your project. We LOVE pictures!

Thanks guys for the fast replies and good advice. I am still bit of a noob in this  ;)
I wil get a 12 tooth one asap!
The saw is "dirty" because of the bas sawing. It was sharpened not long ago...  [sad]

Thanks again guys, and I will post some pictures

greetings,
Aaron

Keeping a blade clean is important. The blade may be sharp, the grunge affects how well it cuts.

Tom

I will keep that in mind, thanks  :)
How do you keep it clean? Anything special?

greetings,
Aaron

Thanks Tom, I will go and clean my blade now  [embarassed]
I own a kapex 120 to, do I need another blade for this lumber to? It cuts because it is powerful but it could do it better probably.

greetings,
Aaron

The factory Kapex blade should be fine for what you're doing. Check to see if it needs cleaning.

The real advantage to more than one blade is no down time when the blades need service. I can't afford to have a saw down because the blade is at the sharpener.

Tom

I am just starting so not so many customers yet  [embarassed] I need to watch my expenses but at the same time I want good tools (cheaper tools wil often die on you sooner and give you headaches). The TS55 EBQ was a loaner and with it came 3 blades, the same blades.

I’m not familiar with the Festool table saw module, but...
Are you sure the fence is parallel to the saw blade? If the fence is closer the blade at the back it will act the way yours is. The wood will ‘pinch’ (be too wide) at the back of the blade and push against the back and side of the blade stalling the saw.  If you search for ‘table saw alignment’ in google you will find ways to adjust the ‘rip’ fence to the saw blade, ranging from a dial gauge held against the front and back of the blade to a straight edge and a depth block. Second how is the fence held? is it just the protractor unit, or is there a second clamp on the fence to hold it still?

For cleaning blades I use Armor Hammer Washing Soda,in the laundry isle. Take a spackle bucket lid and  pour enough mixture of hot water and soda leaving room for the blade.Let soak 5 minutes or so than take it out and tooth brush the gum off. Repeat if needed. Lightly dry the blade and the hot blade and cool air will dry the rest. One box will last 5 years.MARK

Like a hot knife through butter!  [big grin]
I bought the Panther yesterday and it worked better then expected. Sadly I dropped my cms module with my saw in it (clumsy) so it has a little dent in the top plate. Nothing major but it still hurts...

Thanks Mark, sounds like a good way to clean. I am going to try that. Though I must say that my saw blad did not looked that dirty when I removed it from my saw.

Thanks all for the good advice, it really helped.
Greetings,
Aaron

Thanks for letting us know that the new blade did the trick!

Bummer about the CMS module. It feels a little like the first noticeable dent or scratch on a new car, doesn't it?

yes it does  [crying] You want to keep them in perfect condition although you know you can't.
