I have a couple blades I use a lot that are 2.2mm kerf. I also have a couple blades never used that are 2.5mm kerf. Wondering what real affect using the wider kerf blades will have on the guide rail splinter guard? Since the difference in width is only 0.3 mm and only half of that (0.15mm) would be cutting into the splinter guard, it seems to me that it would have very little long term effect on the the function of the splinter guard. What are your experiences with this?
Thanks. Pete

My experience with it was that, it was annoying.

I bought several 24t tenryu's to deal with that before they changed the kerf.

I wonder what I did with that old universal blade?

I recently switched to a different-sized kerf, and it made no discernible difference to my cuts at all.

BUT...

I am cutting hardwoods and these tend to be splinter-free cuts anyway. Maybe it would be a different matter in plywood or melamine?

If you've yet to make a cut at full depth, the splinter strip may still be doing its job.

It would'nt make any difference be cause the blade always registers from the arbor side.

You're confusing kerf with saw blade plate thickness.  If a new saw blade has a wider kerf, it will register a different cut on the guide rail even if the blade's plate thickness is the same.

It annoyed the hell out of me after I used the Panther blade with the wider kerf.
The normal blade cut no longer lined up with the line with the guide rail.
