TS75 As Tablesaw...

Hi All,

I've been happily using my TS75 for about 4 months on panel goods and 3/4" hard woods. This week I challenged the saw with some 8/4+ hard maple and slightly softer 8/4 walnut.

It worked ok. But several times it kinda balked (I was going slooowwww, about 10 sec. to make a 24" cut) I noticed several full blade revolution bites on the stock. Most of the cuts while square and straight had a bit of a saw mark on them.

I used the stock blade.

Questions:
IS there a better blade for heavy hardwood ripping? Any feedback on such a blade?

Am I asking too much of the TS75? I have no space for a tablesaw and have been able to make some setups for multiples and it only takes a bit longer but the cut quality kinda bugs me.

Any suggestions for using the TS for such work?

Thanks,

Warren

I don't think you're asking too much from the TS75 at all. I make basically the same cuts on my TS55 all the time. I do however think you're asking too much of the stock blade. Would you rip lumber with a 60 tooth or an 80 tooth blade on a 10" tablesaw? No. Switch to different blade and I think you'll find you like the results a whole lot better. The stock blade is awesome for any kind of fine cuts and crosscuts. Its not meant for heavy ripping tasks.

With my TS55, I don't normally switch to a panther blade when I'm just ocassionally ripping 4/4 stock. If I'm doing a lot of rips, or if the material is 5/4 or thicker, then I switch over. It makes a huge difference to use the right blade for the right task.

For ripping 8/4 stock, I'd use this blade if I were you:http://www.bobmarinosbesttools.com/...d=64c87c1a9af03fbe9b699649b1077982&pid=493196

  Warren,

Lou got it right. Changing the blade will make all the differnce you'd need.

Just to repeat what they said: " PANTHER" - it is a great blade for ripping heavy stock.

Here Jessica is re-sawing 4" boards by cutting full depth and then turning it over and cutting thru from the other side. Panther blade made it possible.

Come on John,  I had to look 3 times before I noticed a blade.

What blade?

Thanks all. I'll be getting one of those real quick. That alleged blade that is...I still don't see it
