TS75 waste side splinter guard on the waste side

I was cutting up some 3/4" ply with my TS75 and was having sawdust spewing from the cut off side of the saw. Then when I did a cross cut I was getting tear out on the cut off side. I am using a track and had the depth set to 26mm which cuts through the 3/4" ply and doesn't unnecessarily slice up the my cut table. The splinter guard is hard against the 3/4" ply as it should be but the blade doesn't even touch the back of the splinter guard. To make the blade touch the splinter guard so it will work properly I have to set the cut depth to at least 35mm. This causes the cut table to be prematurely replaced.

All that said, why isn't the splinter guard about 10mm longer toward the rear of the saw so it works properly. I hate to have to set the the depth of cut to 35mm to cut 1/2" ply or 1/4" hardboard.

Does anyone have a work around for this? I really don't want to buy foam board since that will give me one more thing to putz around with since I am ADD and, OH LOOK, a squirrel!! [tongue]

I can relate! I too wish they would make a longer one for the TS75. The one we have is repurposed from the ts55. A tip from Paul Marcel is to glue a piece of thin material to the base of it that extends back towards the arbor.

Thanks guys, this is what I was looking for. One more project in the woodshop. Will it ever end? I hope not! ;D
