TS75

I have recently had few projects that required 5/4 hardwoods like maple and walnut.  And I have a few more to do in the coming months.  I have looked at the TS 75 before a couple times.  However, I always seemed to get by with my trusted 55 by using the right blade and keeping the blades sharp.  A few times recently my 55 struggled with the projects, especially with the maple.  On the maple there were a couple blade marks and some slight burn marks on longer cuts.  The blade marks and burning easily sanded off.

Is it far to assume a TS75 with th factory blade would cut 5/4 hardwoods with ease and without markings/burn marks.  If so, I think I will get one and likely look for a metric sticker since I am sure the metric version here in the U.S. are long, long gone.

I have heard from multiple TS 75 owners that they handle Hardwood with ease compared to the small 55.

Update- I now OWN a TS75, used, but in nice shape.
I cut a 4x4 post on my back gate as a test for my first time using it.
Granted, only Cedar, so ,soft and easy to cut.
Had to trim about 1 1/4” off the top of one post to even it with its mate after redoing the footing on the post a few months ago, clamped an OLD Festool track to the post and cut away, no issues.
Moved the track around for the remaining cut, done.

With TS75 and standard blade (36T) I often cut 40-50 mm hardwoods, including maple, in a single pass without problems and usually without burn marks.

I chose the TS75 over the TS55 - More than 10 years ago.
A bit heavier to handle (and I’m older/retired) -
And yes - It did cost more...
But the TS75 cuts anything - Rips or cross cuts.
I’ve used it to rip 8’ X 2-1/2” thick hardwoods - With the original “combo” blade -
And my 3000mm guide rail.
No problem.
I’ve never regretted choosing the 75 over the 55.
Go for it. You won’t either!

Thanks for the replies.  Your comments confirmed what I expected.  I just ordered a TS75 from [member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] and my friends at Toolnut / Festool Products.

If you’re cutting at 90° then it is not too much of a problem. As soon as you want to do any compound cuts the wight becomes an issue. That’s my two bits

The difference is only 3.5 lbs, even less than the difference between a DF500 and XL. I have used both the T55 and TS75 (which I own) for long bevel cuts and did not feel or see any difference in control or quality of cuts. I am talking about making the cuts with the track.
