You could do that on any saw really though couldn't you, unless you have a wildly inaccurate splinter guard it's hard to go wrong.

Yes the festool ts are great, this is a festool forum after all, but it is true that I'd also expect pretty much any other track saw to be able to do that, only the other day I was cutting off edging tape perfectly with a makita .
