I have a REQ for my work shop & its great. Im often at jobs with no available power so i got a TSC track saw & its great, versatile, quick accurate everything you would expect & the dust bag is great as i don't have an extractor & i find it a huge plus now working the saw. My only worry is the battery life! I have a BHC drill so i find myself going through 4 batterys in a day pretty quick, & it can get annoying switching between saw & drill at end of the day when down to last 2 batteries & thinking about battery life. I like to make sure batterys are completely dead before recharging cause i hear its better for the battery life.am i being to particular? I am considering purchaseing a DRC drill as is would be useful & then give me 6 batterys & serious screwing power! Anyone think the same & how good is a DRC drill!

I have the PDC drill, and it is the same as the DRC but with an added percussion feature for lighter jobs drilling in mortar and stone..

I thought about the battery issue, and I think you will need at least 7 batteries for the number of tools you are thinking of. The 3 or 4 charges you end up if you buy most of your tools with them will mean you can quickly get charged up..

I'd just go and get the DRC drill with it's two batteries and the charger you be set, oh well get one additional battery and you should be set.. That's my plan at least!

As the batteries are lithium they can be charged at any time. I have read that completely discharging lithium batteries does them more harm than good.

When i was all makita 18v lxt i was aiming to have 2 batteries per tool to keep them rotated during use etc. I only got to 8 batteries before i decided to change over to festool.  With something like the TSC55 i would probably consider having 2 full sets of batteries for it, then add other tools with 18v batteries for spares.  [big grin]

Thanks, i needed to hear it from other professionals before i go & purchase the DRC! I agree the more batteries the better! 6 should be enough! [emoji1]

I only have the PDC, T18 and BHC with in total 4 pieces of 18V batteries (2,6/3 Ah) and find that the batteries on the BHC are pretty quickly out of juice.
I think it's the same with the Carvex and the TSC, these machines ask a lot of the batteries.
I think Festool did realize that when they designed the TSC and why you can or have to use two 18V batteries and even get 2 chargers with the XL version of the TSC, but you get only 2 batteries and that's not logical?

I agree the performance output is high & severe on the batteries. I have had days were i reached for the 3rd battery half way through the day with the BHC.For anyone the drills are brilliant but consistent hard work will drain them.for me i prefer the battery power (no leads) & also I'm heading to NZ & want tools that work here & over there.

I installed solarpanels on my pickup and a 12-220v inverter, now I can charge batterys and time

First. [welcome] to the FOG!

Second, WE NEED PICTURES!!!

[big grin]

I think the solor panel idea is brilliant!

I've been thinking that another solution if you are away from the grid all day would be to have a couple tractor batteries fully charged and use that as a charging base unit. That way you could use a cheaper battery type to use as the backup up power so you could keep the number of expensive Lithium batteries down to say 2 batteries per tool.. Another solution would be to have a smaller generator that could be used to charge the batteries up..
