Finally got a chance to snap up a 30 50 set of the TSO Parallel Guides with two guide rail adapters before they went on backorder again.

All in all, I am seriously impressed with the quality of the machining, accuracy in use and the overall intuitive design of the system.

I already had the 18" triangle system which is almost as awesome as the parallel guides[emoji16]

I want to put a shout out to Hans and his team at TSO, you are my persons of the week. Thank you. [emoji120]

[member=65857]ProCarpenterRVA[/member] - that was really thoughtful of you to  take the time to share your reaction to our tools. The ink was not quite dry on your post when I had just come out of an intense planning session with my key managers so I immediately copied your post and emailed it, as intended, to our Team.

It matters a lot and we thank you so much for your thoughtfulness!

Just curious if you use these as primarily as a job site tool or primarily as an in-the-shop tool.  I am a hobbyist and have a small dedicated shop for my projects and my needs are for an MFT setup that can do repeatable crosscuts without frequent readjustments for square.  in the past I have used parallel type guides to break down sheet goods, so I am trying to wrap my head around how the TSO guide rail square and parallel guides might work for a stationary application.  Any thoughts about that?

I didn't own the PGS at the time and this is the only picture I have but the concept is the same. The guide rail square has threaded holes that allow it to be attached to the MFT bracket/hinge. With the TSO PGS you could have the guide rail bracket and PGS mounted as a single unit to your MFT/3 hinge, stops and all. The material would reference against the TSO guide rail square and always provide square cuts.

Here I am using the rail square with a single PGS length for doing no measure cross cuts:

Here's a stack of drawer sides I cut using that setup:

They were all dead on and that was using the system 'in the field' (my garage, my shop is in the basement). If you had the rail square mounted to your MFT hinge it would probably be even easier to hold the material in place.

So, bear with me as I have watched a number of videos about the TSO guide rail square and the parallel guides and many only show the square butting up against an edge of the piece being cut, but yours and other posts suggest the guide square can be attached to the MFT bracket/hinge.  IN this threadhttps://www.festoolownersgroup.com/...so-grs-16-pe-attached-to-the-mft-and-mw-1000/  Hans replied:  2.) [glow=red,2,300]Now if you are using a GRS-16 PE Guide Rail Square connected to the MFT hinge bracket, that takes care of a means for squaring cuts on an MFT WITHOUT having to "square the guide rail" - because the GRS-16 PE provides the square edge to reference against.[/glow]

I have not seen how that attachment works, but just curious if it would work with the profiles on the MFT1080 as well as the MFT 3.

If it does make that attachment, then I can see how useful the parallel guides with the rail square could function as a fence for repeatable cuts on the MFT and also to break down sheet goods.

Whoops, just found an image in the same thread referenced above:

I try to minimize the use of this type of tool outside of the shop environment. Too much chance of damage when you/ they are moving things around. I get all the repetitive pieces cut in the shop and modify them as necessary at the job site.

Just a quick question:

Generally, how long do you have to wait for order fulfillment after placing order for the parallel guides?

Delivery schedules have dropped off the cliff.  I was supposed to receive a Festool Recon item last Saturday, each day I get another notice it will be delivered late that night, but it never comes.  If it does not come today, then it will be an entire week of rescheduled deliveries.  I am in Ohio, yes we have snow, but it is something else besides weather.  I received my bank statement dated to the end of Dec 17 yesterday.  This was two months late.  If you send a credit card bill to Philadelphia, expect that payment to be late.  We mail our payment the next day after receiving the bill, and have been dinged twice.

I heard that UPS and FedEx shut off taking new deliveries in early December because they could not keep up.  A post office worker told me that items that would normally go out UPS from Walmart internet site were sent to the post office instead.  He said that the post office (regional office) would get a 100 pallets a day from Walmart when it was normally 6.

Regarding last q on fulfillment from TSO, after order placed, it's never been more than 1-2 days before shipment.  The trick is actually being able to place the order to begin with, as they're often oversold.  I'd like to believe this is at least partially due to the strong success of their products, which I wholeheartedly can attest to.  Kudos.  Add yourself for notifications, which haven't been 100% reliable, so also just check in each day.  I've had a few different parallel guides, and can say unequivocally, the quality here outshines them all many fold.  I have both rail squares, couple quick adapters, and the 30/50 kit.  Top notch.

Product availability at TSO:
we are catching up to the holiday production backlog and continue to ramp up production, especially on the Parallel Guide. We are not able to handle back-orders or pre-orders for the foreseeable future.

Shipping  times at TSO:
when a product shows available to order on our website we state "most orders will ship within 1 to 4 business days". Our actual pattern shows we do better than that most of the time.

Transit time:
TSO uses FedEx and US Postal Priority mail only in the US. We have seen no service disruption from FedEx at all.
We discontinued US Parcel Post last year due to customer complaints about service and tracking difficulties.

Hans

These Parallel Guides are harder to acquire than toilet rolls during a pandemic; I could only imagine how good they are!  [laughing] [laughing] [laughing] I've placed an order mid-January and hoping to receive them soon... keeping my fingers crossed  [big grin]

Hans, any idea of when the parallel guides will be available again? I put my name on the waiting list a few weeks ago when I ordered a GRS-16 PE & PTR-18, which are both awesome by the way.

What I’ve found out with TSO, ask to be notified but then you need to check everyday. I’ve bought all three length parallel guide rails in the last month. I didn’t get emails on them even though I signed up for them, just lucked upon them. If you want them, don’t fine one item in stock and say you will wait for the rest of what you want to get in stock. If you see an item you want, you had best order it and pay the multiple shipping charges.

Check with US Tool & Fastener. They are a TSO vendor and from what I’ve seen, if they have it listed on their website where it allows you to add it to the cart it is in stock. May want to call to verify, but they look like they have parallel guides available, depending on what you are looking for.
