Turbo Suction Brush ?

Semenza,
Hi, you asked about the turbo brush.  We love it.  My wife asked that I purchase a second CT for the house after we had tried the Turbo brush throughout the home.  We have three cats & a long haired dog.  This vacuum with the Turbo brush rocks.  The CT33 is powerfull & hardly any hair is stuck to the roller brush when done.  I'm glad to hear it's commonly sold with the household central vacuum systems.  That's what I had hoped for.  Yes it's plastic, but it disassembles completely in just a moments time.  I do clean off the roller this way when done each time.  The old hoover we had though was impossible to keep the roller clean on.  It seems it just didn't have the CFM required to move the hair past the roller brush fibers.  It takes only five minutes or so to clean the brush at the end of vacuuming each time.  The great part is that the additional CT22, which we just bought before the price increases, now lives under the chopsaw in my shop when not in the house working.  This allows my CT33 to remain attached to my projects & never leave the shop.  It's difficult to move with the Boom arm now anyway.
Oh & the CT's allow me to spend a only third of the time as before vacuuming the house, & the bags are hard to fill up in the house.

Here's a couple more Turbo options by Miele.  Top one is driven by 7.2NIMH battery.  Bottom unit is Strickly suction.
The suction only unit works great on short to medium pile.  I use this for site clean up after quickly picking up large item with a broom.  First time posting pics here, keeping fingers crossed.

vteknical,
I have a Miele vacuum (a Solaris) and I really like it.  Actually, when I was searching for a home vacuum, and saw the Miele, my first thought was that it reminded me of a Festool extractor in some ways.  I don't use the turbo brushes, but I've been curious about them.

PS: Good job postings photos.  And look, good quality photos in under 50KB!

Those brushes usually work great.  I have one on my Home Central Vac system and One on my Steamer Unit (Desiderio) and they both perform very well.  I wouldn't suspect the festool one would be any different.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the update on this.  If I end up going with a CT for the house one of the suction turbos would be great. That  battery powered one is a neat idea. I could get an electrically powered one but they are  2-3 hundred US,and heavier / more cumbersome.  What I would want to do is set it up with the 23' d36 hose. That way it would reach the entire downstairs and a good part of the upstairs with very little moving of the CT.  Then just wander around with the hose seperate to get corners , cobwebs, etc.

Seth, I was thinking the same thing myself.  Actually,  I have a Dyson upright in the house which already has the turbo attachment, plus a lot of others.  Would like to be able to interchange on the CT but it's not even close.  Be nice to use vacking the cars.  Anyone know of some adapters.  Seems to me this would be a great after-market niche for some company.  But maybe there aren't enough Festoolies to make it worth while.

Hi,

I have foound that the regular d36 fitting will take many of the "normal" houshold vac atachments. I don't know what theDyson connections are like. But you can probably make an adapter with one or more pvc fittings or perhaps using part of another  crevice tool or attachment. Maybe use a Dyson attachment and convert the hose end to fit in a d36?

An 18 wheeler showed up at my door this morning to deliver my Turbo Suction Head (and a small assortment of other toys)...

Oh, I think I remember hearing someone say their non-Festool model was noisy. This is not. It is louder than the CT Mini, but it is still way, way quieter than my upright vac.

That would have been me, earlier in this thread, when I was talking about my near-identical Vax suction head:

So how well does my 13 year old Vax Powerbrush work? Well, I must say that I have pretty mixed feelings about it. Firstly, it makes a horrible racket. I put this down to worn bearings on the brush head. Disassembling the unit (which I have done countless times over the years) and lubricating the bearings gives me peace and quiet for a wee while, but it's soon up to its old tricks again.

Although I can't remember how loud the Vax Powerbrush was when I bought it all those years ago, I am sure that the noise is makes nowadays is due to wear and tear on the bearings. I'll try to remember to ask you in 13 years time what your Festool one sounds like!  ;)

Sorry.  Slap my face.  With all the recent discussion about turbo vacuum heads (including other manufacturers in this thread), I had no idea Festool had one.  What else was in that semi (lot of room in there for just some extraction accessories)?

What MFG's need to come out with is a Turbo Shop brush that will pick up large items, like screws and bolts.

Yes there is a cheap 15.oo version adverstised on TV but it does not connect to a suction hose.  It could be a hybrid of it though?
