TXS 18 - Bit holder stuck in FastFix nib

Evening All

Just had a strange problem with a new TXS 18.  Put a standard 1/4" bit straight in the FastFix nib and it was a real challenge to remove it.  Assumed it might be a dodgy bit so grabbed a standard 1/4" bit holder that I now can't remove at all.  Looks like bad luck in getting a faulty one so will give Festool a call tomorrow but just thought I'd see if anyone else had experienced this problem.

Thanks

Yeah it’s a problem with the drills since they moved production to Czech Republic. It’s the spring clip rings. The sharp ends of them stick out slightly into the hex opening and get some bits right stuck in them. I use wd40 and lots of wiggling and force. They’ll come out eventually.

To be clear, we are talking about the drive shaft here. Not any of the chucks.

I’m fairly sure I’m correct. I have bits that were and are fine in my older German made drills with this style drive shaft (T18s & C18s) but i experienced the issue on Czech Republic made drills (t18, c18, cxs12)

The original cxs, and the pdc & drc drills all have a magnet for bit retention, rather than the spring clip. I prefer the magnet.

That explains why I didn't have the same problem with my older CXS.  I'll give them a call anyway as their demo video shows their guy easily removing a standard 1/4"" bit.

Thanks for the reply.  Much appreciated.

So all the latest Festool drill/drivers are now made in the Czech Republic ?

Well, when your so-called ally destroys your access to and primary conveyance of inexpensive energy, thereby imploding your entire economy, the actions of industry to subsequently move a significant portion of its production to neighboring states (where access to energy has not been similarly curtailed) is a completely understandable response.
