I just picked up the Mk II guide system.  Made my first top with it.  Kudos to Peter Parfitt.  You really get CNC accuracy.  All the holes are spot on accurate.  Great design and great quality of parts.  Well worth the investment.  Over the years I have tried to make MFT tops using other methods.  This is the best and most accurate I have encountered (absent paying someone with a CNC machine to make one for me).

I do have a few questions about what I encountered during the process to see if anyone else has the same experience and any advise.  When I drilled the holes with the 3mm bit, no issues at all.  When I switched to used the 20 mm locator dogs, the dogs were very tight on many of the holes.  So tight that I frequently had to use a rubber mallet to push them in.  I also had to use a rubber mallet on the underside to push them out.  Sometime a light tap did it, other times had to use a bit more persuasion.  When I finished the top, I do not seem to have the same tightness with any of my veritas large dogs.  Not sure if that is due to the leverage I have to pull them out.  They don't seem as tight as the locator dogs.  The veritas dogs slide in just fine, and there is no wiggle room.  I made the top out of moisture resistant MDF.  I also chamfered the entire bench including the dog holes.  Not sure if either of those that had anything to do with the difference.  Has anyone else had the same issue?  Is there something I might be doing wrong?  Thanks.

Not sure but if you mic the locator dogs that come with the Parf Guide Mk II system you might find they are spot on at 20mm and that your garden variety dogs are slightly undersized at 19.8mm. Just a guess as I have not put a caliper to my Mk I Parf Guide dogs but I seem to remember someone mentioning this when the Parf Guide system first came out.
