Hi All,

I was fortunate enough to get good deals on a UK version of a 2200 router.  It says it's 110 but the plug is UK version.
I am in the United States.  How can I use the tool here?
Do I need step up/down box?  Plug converter?
I also understand that the frequency may be an issue.
Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

At the minimum you would need a Plug Adaptor.

Whether you need to worry about 50/60 Hz is a question that some more experienced folks can answer.

Although I get where your plug adaptor advice has come from, I'm afraid you're mistaken. UK power tools designed to run on a 110-volt supply exist because safety laws over here prohibit the use of 240-volt tools on construction sites. The argument is that a worker accidentally slicing through a cable is far less likely to suffer a fatality if the supply is running at half the voltage. 110 volts is therefore mandatory on construction sites over here. But since the site power is 99% likely to be 240v, the tools are operated via transformers which are carried by pretty much every tradesman who works on a site. A 110-volt tool will have a plug like the one pictured below, which plugs into the transformer - not into the wall outlet. The UK standard 240-volt wall-outlet plug is the black one pictured.

I'm also not sure about the 50Hz/60Hz question.

i moved to the USA from the UK recently. All my tools were 110v with the yellow UK plug. I bought a plug adapter from Uk yellow to US plug.  They all work perfectly fine.  I also have the CT midi 2 (110v) that was originally in the UK which works fine.

Isn't the connector socket on the tool itself the same? You could just use a Plug-it cable made for use in the US?
The CT would be different, of course, as the cable is built in.

I’ve never seen a US Festool tool - but you’re probably totally right.

The OF2200 does not use a plug-it cable

You need one of these

NEMA USA 15A Mains Plug to Yellow 110v CEE Connector

Oh, I was not aware of that. So it has the built in cord like the RAS115?

all you'd need is a plug adapter or simply go to Blows or Home D or whatever and buy a replacement plug, cut off the original and replace it.
it should work fine

Wow!!!
Love the support here :)
Thank you all for weighing in.  I am going to get a plug adapter and let you know how it works out.

you can also make you own plug adapter if you have spare festool cables.  as an FYI, the plug-it connectors in the USA are different to the UK versions. There are 3 different patterns, UK 220, UK 110, and US 110 (the US 110 and UK 110 are not the same and they don't fit each other)
