Uk hoover/extractor with wrong plugs

It just arrived along with two ts-75 circular saws !!!.......that aren't ours, that need collecting.
Bit annoyed about this though

Not the nice moulded plug I was expecting  (or told it would have) bit of a shambles really.

Just checked my CT26 and that has a moulded plug. That came direct from Festool? Bit bodgy.

Yup that's my impression. I know it's being ocd but I thought that's what festool were known for- there quality and attention to detail. This was my first festool purchase but secretly I was thinking of starting to change to festool stuff when my old stuff wore out. It's only a plug but to me this seems like a half arsed fix which doesn't fill me with confidence regarding the rest of there products.

I'd get a refund and buy one from another supplier that hasn't been bodged.  I think the story of how they're bought in and modified is BS and someone covering their backside for ordering the wrong machine!!

Sorry, my English isnt good. So they cut the plug it cable a make this horrible thing? This look like sh...t:(

Wow, instead of a fresh factory spec vac you get this tinkering? This is a let down from Festool.

Nice of them to throw two extra saws in for your trouble though...  [smile]

Okay, just to clarify, we do see this quite alot. Some machines like the extractor you have ordered are converted for use in the UK from German specs. This means that they have to have the plug and sockets changed. This is done at Festool UK on the way from Germany. The socket always looks okay but yes the Euro plug is chopped off and a wired plug fitted. As far as I know the moulded plug lead is never an option, so you could send it back but you'll only get the same.

There are only a few machine like this, a few of the extractors are one and Planex's in 240v too I think.

I will work perfectly.

Best regards

In which case I'd get a refund and get a Bosch GAS 35m which is £469 instead of £640 and IMO is a better extractor with a more powerful suction capacity.

A professional/industrial rated power tool should never come with such  a brittle two part plug that can be smashed, cracked or work loose during daily use in a building/renovation environment!

Surely it would be simple for Festool to remove the lead in its entirety and replace with a mounded UK plug and lead?

Considering the ethos Festool have about details and quality justifying investment in their tools, this is seriously poor show!

Molded plugs are the standard for power tools all over the world, everywhere. Because they're safer and more durable.

So you're telling me that in the UK, where they're 10 times more anal about jobsite safety than the rest of the world, a screw on plug is suddenly acceptable?

I find this a very poor show from the company that says their high prices are warranted because they're just the best. It's a really cheap move they can't even be bothered to order some fully molded UK leads.

Haven't read replies in depth yet , but just to add I did ask in detail about the plug and  uk festool lady stressed they replace the complete lead so it wouldn't have a bodged aftermarket plug. Based on what she said I can only assume they have indeed replaced the entire lead which must come fitted with a crappy 2 part plug. Somewhere somehow something has got confuddled, it's clear to me festool aren't sure what there doing.

I totally agree, chopping the lead and wiring on a plug is not the best option in my mind either. Removing the lead and maybe wiring in a lead from an OF2200 with a moulded plug might work, subject to power rating? It does seem to be the 'quick-fix' option though and makes the few machines that need it available in the UK that might not be otherwise. So, not a perfect solution but a simple workaround.

This has been done for a very long time too and the first time I've seen a complaint. That doesn't mean I think it isn't valid, it is. Maybe this thread will be enough to push for a better solution or maybe the machines concerned will be pulled from the UK range.

Who knows, I'm just a dealer.

As the lady has no right of reply on this forum, you might want to remove her name. And to be fair if the lead was a Plug-It lead then yes the whole thing would have been replaced, but its' not so it wouldn't. A simple mistake to make?

When I originally found I had the wrong plugs I first contacted festooluk via the contact form (3.30 am) with a link to the forum showing the pictures, then after the advice here contacted ffx who swiftly started things in motion. It's my understanding they should be aware of the thread- after all I posted a link to it in the contact page ! It'd be good for clarification from a festool employee either way [emoji6]

Hi
I have asked and am awaiting a reply - internet and computer issues prevented earlier contribution to this.
I also asked for the name to be removed as employees have no right of automatic reply to the forum. Will get back when I receive a reply on the extractor.

Another freebie from festool declined today

Is everything o.k ............?

Oh dear, all this stock you are receiving you could open your own dealership soon.  [eek]

Its great, reminds me of the generation game- if a festool cuddly toy passes before my eyes tomorrow im keeping it ! looks good quality stuff, I'll be sure to get more hands on when i see some of the festool stuff around. My belt sanders kept randomly starting by itself (it's 13 year old and been borrowed and abused by an engineering workshop) I'm waiting for the replacement which should come today !!!!!
