hi
i have been asked to make a gate to fit between a house and the fence running paralell to the house.
the gate will be 1800mm tall and approx 1000mm wide.
i have made a fewgates but nothing this big, and am always looking for new/better ways of doing things so i thought i would open it up yo the FOG.
i will be using thunderblots to fix a 75mmx75mm fence post tothe house, this will be the hinge side.
the gate will be a matchboard font. the frame i was thinking about using 10x50 dominoes (i only have the 500) and or pocket screws glued with polyurethane
what i am unsure about is what timber to use and how to treat it. costs are to be kept down so it will be softwood, but i dont know weather to go for cls untreated and then apply some form of preservative (open to suggestions) or pressure treated. i usually find it hard to get pressure treated that is actually straight.
antony.
