Hey all,

I have a small bar area < 2 meters wide (6 foot for the Imperial folks) that i need some quick and easy LED strip lights.  I have done some in the past, but with mixed success.  Below are the criteria:

  • Needs to be a hardwired setup; already have it stubbed
  • Would love for it to be able to be dimmable from the wall switch wired to the stub
  • Just a driver and either 6 feet or 12 feet of LED tape (at least below the cabinet, but potentially above as well

I have looked around, and find some combination of the above list, but not a lot of luck on the complete list (either that or I am just "missing" something)

Cheers.  Bryan.

Into the bottom of the cabinet. Here is a close up of the terminal block.

And here is an image of the bar to see above and below. I prefer to run the transformer to the top to keep it out of sight. The switch is to the right

Block is line voltage?

Yessir.  When we built the house, we had them stub in straight from the wall switch.  If I can't dim from the wall switch, I can live with it, but would prefer to have that option (if it doesn't float a lot of my money away).

I have 6 other setups like this (kitchen, study bar, etc.) that I need to do as well so if I get the combo right, I will be a happy camper... a poor one, but happy!

Thanks for the help gents.

Cheers.  Bryan.

The 20 watt in the link should tuck up in the recess. It is dimmable with a wall dimmer.

Line in from the block, load out to the led tape.

I put the LED's in a channel to protect them. I place the channel along the back side of the front edge.

Hot glue and pressure sensitive ATG to install channel.

If you can't get what you need locally let me know. GMLighting is local for me.

A Syslight is proving the illumination in the first photo.

Tom
