Undulated Kitchen Island

Hi Guys,

One of our customers requested something unique for their kitchen, and they had seen a few products i had produced with the HL 850, and were set on this !!

Im not personally enthralled with the color choice, or oak wood selection, but the customer was very insistent  [unsure]

But nevertheless, they absolutely love it, and i now have 4 more pieces of similar size to make as a result  ;D

Looks good for what it is.  Did you domino the edge joints? I guess with the texture there was no real need to worry about the boards lining up [laughing]

I did throw in some dominos for glue up just to help out, but yes, a flat surface is not required !!!  [big grin]

If you ever have a job like that where you could use an extra hand, let me know and I'll show up just to learn from you. I'm not a lot of good for hard labor, but I do the 'human clamp' trick pretty well.

Curious as to what "other products" you had produced with the 850 that set them off?

Everyone likes that 'brown'...and oak. I like the before stain look myself.
I think the counter top is incorrect. Too much going on there. They probably should have picked a solid color for the island.
The kitchen cabinets looks good, did you make those too?

But nevertheless, they absolutely love it, and i now have 4 more pieces of similar size to make as a result  ;D

I'll post some pictures when I find then, but I've made quite a few things utilizing the 850 rangeing from Faux beams to solid doors. Some people really really dig that look, and most still think its a hand produced finish  [tongue]

I love that textured look. I was just at lumber yard and they were selling custom textured and reclaimed looking ply sheets starting at $900 a sheet so tell your customer you saved them a fortune.

I think it's a cool look!

I was surprised they used laminate countertops.  That is kind of a low budget choice considering the custom island.  Around here it's all granite even in a lot track homes.

I like the look. (probably more so before the dark stain) I think the execution however is outstanding. I suspect it's not easy keeping it from looking contrived.

Yeah, the tops were a source of contention. We hit some unforeseen circumstances during to remodel that really ate into their budget, so ultimately they went with some hi-def laminate.

However, we are putting a nice color corian on the island for the breakfast bar.

i must say that it's the best i have seen, perhaps ever.
totally in envy of your skills, i wanna be as good as that!

so tempted to get into a lecture on why your other video is so wrong, but i don't want to take away from the sheer brilliance of your craftmanship. let's just say i admire your balancing skills and leave it at that.
