Upcoming 10' glass/metal door install

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a pic of a door that I've been having built. It is to replace a standard entry unit with a Palladian window above...so we designed this. I'm not looking forward to the install...gotta get lots of help. The door unit is about 10' tall x 6' wide. Weighs about 1200 lbs. !

I'm looking forward to some pictures of the install, that should be very interesting.

Will do. I'm not looking to forward to it...as far as getting it into place. I'm told that we are to remove the glass from the doors, then remove the doors from the frame...then just hang the frame (I'm assuming there is a support welded in that we break out when done - that frame is probably 200-300 lbs in and of itself.

Beautiful door! But I'm kinda partial mines very similiar but made of African mahogany. Just wait until you have to trim it that's a real treat...

Hmm I'll have to look into it later. For the trim i either needed to buy specially made trim for 400$ for paint grade or make my own, you can imagine which route I'm going. I've made a template to laminate the trim around so we'll see how that goes.

I'm thinking of going of going the Azek route for the exterior trim (which will require some type of casing treatment/jamb extension, then brick mould as the door). I gotta weigh my bending options.
