Upcoming CXS / TXS 18

Size wise they look closer to the T/C series drills the their 10.8v namesake’s.

The TXS definitely shorter, but if it lacks the power of my T18 I’m not really bothered as I love the T18 as is. Pretty compact with a 3.1ah battery and the centrotec system.

The CXS looks like it will be ergonomically better than the C18 (that i never loved)
The thinner motor housing, and shorter length will make your thumb and forefinger strain less to grip, and stability will be given by the ring and little finger that can now grip the handle, where the elongated trigger and notch  on the C18 prevented this.

Basically the CXS is perfect the C18 replicated none of it. If this new one balances in the hand like the little CXS (albeit heavier) im sold :) time will tell.

Oh and i think some of the photos make it look big because of the 4.0ah battery vs 3.1ah. That def makes a difference. Anyway don’t need it to be smaller, i need it to feel good in the hand. And slightly less power than the T/C series is actually welcome for me in a C form factor, less wrist worry:)

I like the improved trigger on the CXS 18 but I am disappointed that it and the TXS 18 are supposed to have less power. Apart from a slight size reduction on both models and an improvement to the trigger ergonomics on the CXS 18, what has been improved on the new models? Can they even be considered an upgrade?

Looks like all it's going to do is make me buy another of the current model before they are gone.
The only real question is another CXS, or get a TXS and have both?

So, I tried both- The CXS trigger was the best I've used by far, but the forward weight balance did something to trigger a nerve in my forearm.  I've been using 12v Bosch for years, so I guess my arm is just set in it's ways.

Switched to the TXS, and it's perfect balance, but the trigger isn't as good somehow.  It's just OK.

So I returned both of em.  I still just use Bosch.

I had the original Bosch "Pocket driver" back when they were still marketed as 10.8v, hex only attachment. They were/are single-speed at 400RPM IIRC. Then they introduced a drill chuck version(2 speed), which I bought immediately. They missed the ergonomics though, it was awkward at the wrist. Shockingly quickly, they killed that model and fixed it. I sold the older one and switched. Then came a right-angle version and the "falsehood" of the 12v labeling happened it there somewhere too.
In all that time I was never happy with the grip. The triangular shape seems backward to me? Try holding it the other way, you might see what I mean. (hands are different)
At that point, I discovered the CXS and never looked back. I sold of all of the Bosch stuff, because the CXS did all of it. It was not only ergonomically better feeling, it did all of the functions, and has the superior Centrotec system, plus it works out to cost less than the 3 Bosch units. Of course this was 15 years ago, and I'm not sure when the CXS was first introduced/available here. It may have been around before I became aware of it?

Regarding hand sizes, the usual suspects are using it in their promo shots, so you can compare to the older CXS.  Looks like at least an inch extra under the pinky, plus another for the battery/butt assembly.  I also noticed that everyone using the new CXS18 has a weird kink in their wrist.  Not sure if it is a balance thing, or a new photographer telling them to 'bend it more!'

and someone asked when.  "May"

also from specs, seems louder, more torque, but less vibration.

I think all festool drills have been made in the Czech Republic for the last 4 years or so.

Just received my new T18 today to complement my old CXS and only now noticed the new CXS 18. Wondering if it's worth it to get the new CXS 18V and do away with both the T18 and old CXS.

Will depend on how large/heavy the new CXS is compared to the old one, and if it packs enough power compared to the T18.

Weight (no chuck)
Old CXS, including battery: 900 grams
New CXS, including battery (3Ah): 1100 grams
C18, including battery (3Ah): 1500 grams

Power
Old CXS: 16Nm torque, 1300RPM
New CXS 18V: 40Nm torque, 1600RPM
C18: 45Nm torque, 1500RPM

Seems like it's closer to the C18 in terms of power, but in terms of weight to the CXS. Find it a bit hard to judge the actual size from the photo's (can't find measurements).

The measurements are on the Festool UK website, it says the CXS 18 is 15.6cm long and 20.6cm high (with 3ah battery)

A bit of quick measuring tells me this makes it about 3cm higher than the current CXS and 2cm lower than the T 18, also about 2.5cm shorter than both the current CXS and T 18

Hi Everyone. First post on the forum here! :)

I'm about to buy my very first Festool drill but not sure which one to get first. I've order the UJK Park Guide System for building my own MFT. Are the new TXS18/CXS18 powerful enough to cut the holes or would you advise getting a bigger drill for that? I'm hoping the TXS18/CXS18 are powerful enough as they are much cheaper compared to a larger one and it's probably the drill I'll be using most of the time.

Welcome.  And yes, the C/TXS18 can drive up to 35mm forstners.

They absolutely have to be good enough to run the bit that comes with the Parf Guide System, for the simple reason that the older actual CXS model is strong enough with the much smaller battery. I drilled 275 holes in my assembly table with mine, and probably 25 or so in my cross-cut table.

Good to know. :)

Anyone know if the CXS/TXS 18 are coming to US and in what timeframe? I spoke to my local dealer but they hadn't received any information.

I'd would like to know this also. Read May 2023 for Europe

Someone just posted photos and videos from the Festool Recharged event in California today.

They posted pictures of both a CXS18 as well as a CXS...12.

Wait, what?  [scared] [eek] [blink]

How/why was this buried?  The CXS18 was hard enough to get acknowledgement and verification of its existence, but they managed to hide a new 12V model that uses the same style battery connection as the rest of the 18V line, so you won't need a second charger (but you will need separate batteries).

Anyone know anything about this?

That CXS 12 came out of nowhere. How was it not announced for the EU market before the US?

There’s some weird shadow lines and shading on that cxs12, looks like photoshop to me.
Are you sure this was not posted on April 1st?
