Upcoming CXS / TXS 18

There’s some weird shadow lines and shading on that cxs12, looks like photoshop to me.
Are you sure this was not posted on April 1st?

As woodferret mentioned, these were posted by attendees at a local Festool event.  If it's a hoax, it's a significantly elaborate hoax that involves fully prototyped tools.

Something I realized after sleeping is, the new CXS 12 battery will be able to use the TCL 6 and SCA 8 chargers. One less thing to store/carry, etc...

I wonder if it'll be able to use the accessories from the larger drills?

I'm guessing it will come with a TCL3 charger, but yes, it has the same charging arrangement as the 18V and ERGO batteries, so the charger will be one less concern, even though the batteries are different (again, like ERGO).

The front appears to have the same Fast Fix connector as the C18 and T18, so it hopefully can also use the same accessories.

If that's the case, someone who already has a full set or otherwise has accessories only needs the CXS12 and the batteries.

Based on the current offerings, they'll probably sell a 'Plus' variant with batteries, charger, and a centrotec Chuck and a 'Set' variant with the whole kit-n-caboodle, similar to the variants for the CXS10 and TXS10.

I need to know... is that CXS12 real. My faithful CXS batteries are dying after years of hard work. I even got rid of my C18 because I do everything with the CXS and occasionally with the the TPC on the rare occasion I need more torque. So i am considering the CXS 18, the weight will be OK, but it is so large (long/high). I would buy the CXS 12 in a heartbeat. So if it is a hoax, unhoax it and make one. But for now my question is if it is a real product.

Follow up question, will they discontinue the CXS/TXS? If the CXS 12 is not happening, I may want to pick up a new set since a new set is only slightly more than buying two batteries (and that is another discussion).

I would look into refurbishing the batteries, honestly.  In my mind, that has to be cheaper than buying brand new ones, but I don't know off the top of my head who does that, and who does it well.

The complete lack of information from Festool USA on the new CXS variants is starting to move from 'out of touch, poor marketing' to 'actively anti-consumer', honestly.

Wow. The CXS 12 looks awesome. Hope it’s real!

Exactly what I’ve always wanted, a cxs that doesn’t require a different charger to all my other festool drills & tools. Perfect!!

Ref. the hypothetical CXS 12, I would not hold the breath.

It is pretty certain such existed in the R&D phase - I am sure Festool was testing both a "T/CSX 18" (released) and a "T/CXS 12" to see if the 100 grams battery weight difference makes a difference.

IMO the fact that only T/CXS 18 were announced points to the direction that it was determined those last 100 grams to be shaved off are not worth re-introducing the 12V "big" batteries *as a default option*.

So, the million dolar question:
Does the CXS 18 accept the (old only?) 12V batteries, like my DRC 18/4 and my PSC 420 do ?

I would like newer 12V "big" bateries to be made for my C12 Li and even the PSC, the last  3-cell ones made are only 1.5 Ah and 3.0 ones would be nice.

That drill in the pictures by Chainring is way too polished to be a test mule or prototype device.

Yep. The fact that these pictures are coming from public events tells me they're ready to go.

Can anyone recall Festool ever revealing a new, unreleased, tool at a public event then ditching it? That doesn't seem to be their thing.

I guess they would sell way less 18V CXSs if they announced a new 12V alongside.
This way, you get out the new „small“ 18V. Everyone orders one, half a year later everyone sees a tiny 12V and wants one of those as well. ;)

I‘d fall for it. [emoji1787]

I’ve been meaning to post on here as I was at the event and they showed off the cxs 12.

I can tell you it’s very real. Batteries are the same style as 18v and charge on the regular tcl/sca chargers.

It’s the ideal size imo. I personally don’t get the cxs18 and after holding both side by side I can say I really do hope they release the cxs 12 soon.

The rep I was talking with didn’t seem to have much info on it other than that they just brought it out to show off but he had no idea on a release date.

Not a hoax. Live on Festool US website for last few days and UK website longer.
Local Woodcraft has new battery Kapex, vac, and Tracksaw demos on site now. Said they expected to have at minimum a few of each for launch day. Did not know when the new T/CXS will be launched.

You’ve linked to the CXS 18v.
The debate is about the newly spotted CXS 12v.

Though i don’t think there’s much to debate myself. Its clearly a real product that’s on its way at some point.

In case anyone cares here’s a snapshot of the label showing rpm etc. Looks like production date on this was January 2023 and made in Czech Republic.

Thanks for that [member=67310]igdesignla[/member] that really is good news. It appears the max RPM is now 1600 vs the original 1200 which I've been carping about for my last 10 years of ownership. Also worth noting is that they still rate it at 10.8V...I wonder why?
